I am, too, and it got me thinking... why? And I realized that I've tried to be polite in all my interactions my whole life and I'm not going to practice being terse and commanding for a few pennies worth of tokens.

Apocalyptic safety is just a bonus.

UT99 was the first real FPS experience I had. My friend invited me to a LAN party (also first time), and the whole thing was mind blowing.

People all over the house shouting and laughing.

I have a distinct memory of someone attempting what you just described, but my friend just happened to be ready and he sniped the redeemer right as it was shot. Big explosion and nothing left of the player but a scorch mark on the building. I laughed myself to tears. Good times.

The game Grounded almost has that feel, but it's open world.

There's another game called Hypercharge:Unboxed that is definitely giving me the feeling of those old UT maps, but I haven't actually played it.

This is also my theory. For children, lots of stuff in their lives is new and noteworthy, so they're making new memories all the time. Therefore, time seems slower because they have so many data points to refer back to. I'm nearly 50 and so much of my daily life is routine and definitely _not _ noteworthy. The memories I form are much more sparse. Therefore, time seems to fly by, because there are much fewer data points to reference.

Could you explain that just a bit more? I'm trying to figure out how to adapt my personal workflow to jujutsu and this is the part that confuses me.

I think it's me not understanding the difference between "jj new" and "jj commit", but I'm not sure.

I'm a big fan of the staging area for crafting clean commits, so this would be super useful for me to understand.

I'm a fan of the "aliens are demons" and "the water is holy" (you know, because he's a priest) interpretation.

It's a stretch, but makes the water fit into the story better (in my opinion).

I flew from Ramichaap to Lukla (Nepal on Tara Air) earlier this year and GND PROX was flashing on the screen the entire time. I thought it was funny and took a photo. The terrain and flight path don't really get you to a safe altitude above the ground.

It's a little embarrassing to admit, but timers ("hey siri, set a timer for 10 minutes") is the most common thing I use a voice assistant for. Works great, though.

Yerba mate is my caffeine of choice and I suggested it to my Dad who gets bad migraines. He claims that when he feels a migraine coming on, he can drink a can and it will result in a mild headache instead of forcing him to lie down in a dark room for hours.

I don't know if they were stock sounds, or just lifted from the game, but so many bad shows use the police radio and fire engine siren from SimCity 3000.

I, personally, would find this very helpful if git did it by default. I learned git by searching for "how do I?" stuff. Now I know how to do things, so I don’t go looking. It's possible that there are new and improved workflows, but I'll never know because it already works for me, even if I do it "the hard way".

I'll be honest, having lots of stuff in github is convenient for looking for projects. Like, I need something that does X, and search engines offer the same results for pages and pages. Searching github directly is a lot easier.

Is there a way to search multiple public repos at once? Github, gitlab, sourcehut, codeberg, etc

My kei truck is actually a replacement for my Tacoma (had to sell it because it was starting to fall apart). I wanted something to fill the gap. It's always nice to have a truck bed available for hauling random stuff, but it was during the used car boom and Tacomas seem to hold their value (everything was expensive). Not since I first got my license have I had so much fun driving. It's like a right-hand drive, manual transmission go-kart.

I've hauled bikes, lumber, furniture, rocks and soil for landscaping. Unfortunately, it's no good on the highway, so long distances are out, and your knees are the crumple zone, so I drive the same way I bike...hyper-vigilant and try to anticipate danger. Still worth it.

Not trying to persuade you, I just love to talk about my truck!

I'd really like to see a video of someone using Sam. I sort of understand the concepts individually, but I don’t see how they come together in a fluid way for actual programming. Acme is easy to grasp, Sam has eluded me. But Sam users seem to _really_ love it and I want to understand why.

I hope you don't mind me asking for info, but how beefy is the vps? I can't find minimum specs for these frontends, and that would help me know if I have enough spare power at home. I imagine you want all the bandwidth you can get, but are there cpu limitations?

I know all things cryptocoin are anathema here on HN, but one of the stated goals in the satoshi whitepaper was enabling micropayments. I don’t want to give my credit card info out to every video creator I watch, but what if I could load a digital wallet and pay for streams exactly as you suggest?

My Grandfather worked at the Forestry Service and would come home with reams of used type paper (filled with statistics and reports, I assume). My grandparents would put the paper in the toy cabinet for us. I've made thousands of that design of paper airplane and just today learned that it had a name. Thanks!
