Genuinely most terrorists are mentally handicapped. They groom, coerce and exploit low IQ individuals, because those are the people you can convince to blow themselves up (or whatever else).

I think it’s just that the syntax is more difficult to grok. When I first saw code (PHP and JS) it was fairly easy to read and figure out what was going on. I’m now experienced but I’ve never tried Lisp, but reading Lisp code takes considerably more effort than when I first saw the PHP/JS. I’m sure with very little experience it becomes just as easy, but to the novel eye I think it’s simply less intuitive to reason about.

Statically typed languages with compiler hints are the absolute best languages for LLM's to work with. Successful compilation is incredible feedback, and it basically just means that there is a higher chance that the feature is in a complete and working state at the end of each agent iteration.

I guarantee half the folk commenting “ai slop” on people’s projects are folk who never read people’s code even before AI. Now they get to dismiss it without providing any specifics and feel superior.

Why do you think you would have a choice? It’s up to the business owner if they want to spend money on AGI rather than hire you, if the AGI is more effective per $ they will choose that.

In my experience it didn’t seem that impactful at the time. The social effect of early Facebook was pretty minor, not that much different to the MSN chats that came before it. I think it’s social media content discovery algorithms specifically that caused the sea change. If we exclude modern social media life really wouldn’t be that different to how it was before smart phones. Obviously I understand smart phones are what enabled this…

It’s not meaningless because AGI = genuinely being able to replace humans in almost any job. Sure, AI is getting better at stuff that humans direct it to do, but the fact that a human is required in the loop is super meaningful.
