The bots. We're going to end up working for the bots.

That's actually a really interesting thought. Given Sora, and the amount of funding they have, they could have created started their own film festival and dropped 700+ feature length films, had they wanted to go in that direction. But they didn't. Hmm.

It's cultural. In the new regime, intelligence isn't what's valuable, trust and honor are. Do you want to use the AI run by sociopaths or the one run by Europeans with a strict moral code.

Right. In order for AI to take us out, it has to survive long enough for the incoming Ukraine/Russia/Iran/USA WWIII debacle that we're already in to not kill us all off first. Oil markets are in trouble and things are about to go sideways.
And then Elon is going to have an army of killbots at his command. Those Tesla bots are going to be given guns and they're going to go around, door-to-door, making sure you comply. Thankfully hands are really hard to do so they haven't been able to scale up production yet.

Yes, with the way things are going, that's a prediction that I'm confident will happen. The only question is how long will it take, and what's the rest of everything else going on going to happen.

Yes! I've written one. It's called ENOF. It's not quite that, but in that direction. It starts as a real-world quest game in SF and slowly becomes the government. Instead of an AI voting as you, everyone names a person whose judgment they'd accept, and those delegations chain together into what people start calling the respect graph. You can revoke yours instantly, and a lot of the book is about what goes wrong anyway: bought delegations, one schoolteacher in Lagos ending up with eleven million votes behind her, and eventually who gets the authority to turn the whole thing off.
First 100 HN readers can get it free (DRM-free EPUB/PDF): https://solyin.gumroad.com/l/enof/HN
Seconding Franchise, though. Asimov got to the "one voter stands in for everyone" version in 1955.
