amen!!
this is why i've built all of my setup using a dotfiles-like approach with the explicit intention of always being agent/model-agnostic: https://github.com/ma08/botfiles
the key insight is that if you own the context layer and keep your skills, hooks etc. portable enough, it's actually very easy to swtich agents at will (even mid-task)

finally wrote about my highly opinionated model-agnostic agentic coding setup that was inspired by dotfiles
would love any feedback!

I have transitioned from a late nighter to waking up in the 3-4am zone over the last few years.
That sweet interruption free early morning slot of ~5 hours when everyone's sleeping is probably the most productive I feel before the hustle bustle of life starts.
I have yet to master how to work better in short bursts of 1-2 hours when I have errands to run or calls to take later in the day. Would love to know if anyone has found techniques that work for them to make the most of such smaller time slots where it's harder to reach flow.

Got this idea when a landlord suggested I check the police logs when I asked about neighborhood safety during house hunt.
I built this for myself to easily look up an address and see nearby police events. The data covers incidents from February to April 2025.
Data Source: https://sourya.co/blog/2025-04-22-palo-alto-police-log-visua...
Source Code: https://github.com/ma08/palo_alto_police_log_analysis (lot of slop as it was vibecoded)

Great questions! gemin-2.5-pro was pretty good in writing code that uses 3.7-sonnet! It drafted all the prompts and the pipeline.
You kind of called it. I had to tweak some minor SDK use details by sharing it the latest documentation docs in the second go.
I would say 30% Claude Code, 65% Cursor (gemini-2.5-pro), 5% manual.

honestly, i don't have a good baseline to really say.
i spent 1 month in SF recently and it was kind of similar to NYC tbh. mostly safe but you gotta watch out during late nights in some areas.
i could be ignorant here since i am pretty new to the bay. wdyt?

Built a tool to help my family find a safe neighborhood while moving to Palo Alto. It scrapes daily police reports (PDFs), extracts locations, plots events on Google Maps, and helped us finalize a place.
Try it at: https://palo-alto-police-log-visualizer.vercel.app/
