<p>I'm a 6502 guy myself, but the Z80 instruction set is also easily holdable in one's memory.<p>As others said, a 4MHz Z80 is clearly capable of outperforming a 1MHz 6502 as is evidenced by the many ZX Spectrum demos that show off 3D/plotting effects.</p>

<p>Also, sites like Pixeljoint used to (or still do? I haven't really kept up) collaborations.  This would be a mammoth one, but the result would be much more impressive.  This is a cool concept, but it's definitely not pixel art by any definition.</p>

<p>Early on in my programming life, I had very limited access to a computer. I did much of my coding in my head while walking around.  In some cases, I'd literally write code in my head and dump it out when I had computer access, but abstract and creative problem solving were especially natural in a detached setting.  I truly believe this time was more valuable than the time at the keyboard.<p>If anything, I want to do more of that: get away from the device to let my mind wander. "Doom" coding sounds apt.</p>
