Sure, why not pick idiocracy. You miss the point. People now cannot predict the future, all analogs are simultaneously possible and unlikely. Pick any event we have experienced, 9/11, COVID. Sure, some predictions were close, but nothing like the reality of living through it.

Well even 40k spent 20k years living like the jetsons... There are no analogs for our future. That's one of the core problems here, you have powerful individuals who identify with and aspire to sci-fi, while living in denial of reality. I would argue someone like Musk is more blue pilled and in the Matrix than they think they are...

It's a skill issue... governance and culture skills. Doesn't matter at this point what model you use... a thoughtful harness with appropriate levels of HITL and strong security, governance, discipline. "We" have a very successful dark factory running... no I cant tell you about it. It's trade secrets at this point. It was incredibly hard to build, roll out, and maintain.

People have no idea that 2 years ago we hit peak performance with omni models. We won competitions with GPT-4o-mini, mini... it does not matter. Context matters. Discipline matters. Observability matters. Most of all, PEOPLE matter.

All of the fools who tried this and laid people off. Fools. It's about empowering your team, making their lives easier, less frustrating, and higher impact.

20 years ago when I use to instruct a 101 class on programming, in the first 2 weeks, I made everyone write simple programs with paper and pencil. Students thought that was insane, I would catch them mocking it. I always had the last laugh... those who took it seriously always performed the best and went on to have more successful careers.

Oh really?! I said my statement was oversimplified. Not all groups have the same requirements. NASA Spec is very regulated for instance... But I knew a comment like this was coming, so as someone who grew up with a family race team, has a race car, and builds a motorsports app. Shut up.

Writing code doesn't reliably work... However, as we converge toward a more collaborative development environment, code is more important than ever. Testing, sales, etc. more important than ever. Security... more important them ever.

Or everything will converge toward a rust like inference optimized gibberish...

Racing competition is flattened through regulation(oversimplified). All drivers have the same car. Drivers skill and fearlessness is the deciding factor.

I came here to basically say this about running a company- but your comment was a better launching point.

As someone who has run several companies over the last 25 years and has read and or tried nearly ever "method" mentioned... Im now running a company where Im abandoning everything and just going at with skill and fearlessness... and no funding. It feels freeing, and we are growing.
