This just seems like the free market at work? Not sure why so many of my fellow HNers have a problem with this. As a fellow user, kamaal, once said to me, I'd love to be there working for Musk and experiencing all he has to offer.

The thing with pick up trucks is that they're actually really fucking practical. For people who want to be self reliant and can afford one, they're a no brainer. You've got one vehicle that can function as a car, a van, a camper van (with a demountable pod) or tow a trailer. They can go off road, and they've got enough power to help other people out if they've got into a sticky situation.

This is the issue with sewage technology in general. In short, we are not responsible enough. If we were fully responsible as people, we could do it. Once rich countries did it, poor countries would demand it, and they are especially unprepared. A bit of economic and political risk and voila, regions devastated.

There should be a simple rule: if you can't manage garbage, you can't handle sewage technologies.

I used to be a huge dynamic languages fan, with python being my favorite language over the majority of my career. Then I worked on a large python project of ~100k LOC with a team of ten. That's when I realized that writing code faster isn't the problem. Reading it is, making changes to code someone else wrote is, and refactoring across dozens of modules is a problem. Static languages help a lot with all three. I still love dynamic languages for small tasks, but I'd rather use a static language like Go which still keeps much of the dynamic feel, and helps catch my mistakes at compile time. I actually just set it to watch the project directory for changes and recompile automatically in a terminal on another screen (actually to run the unit tests, which includes compiling.) That's constant feedback and comparable to dynamic languages speed for edit-compile-test runs. But the best part is the unit tests. They run so much faster with Go that I don't get distracted waiting for them to finish, and that keeps me in the zone and much more productive.

I encourage you to think about your actions here, and ensure that you don't negatively affect the space around you in the future. There's hundreds of eccentric personalities on this site, and watching your conversation in the future will only bring positive results.

I support you ReflectedImage - seems like these people just don't know how great dynamic languages can be! My team has actually seen a 30x decrease in bugs, and a 50x increase in productivity ever since switching to Python.

Again, please source your claims. I haven't seen others claim he's stupid (sorry, I don't watch the news except here, and that kind of news doesn't cut it here)

Overnight? Sentiment has been largely changing, for my own circle around the pedo comments, but for others much sooner.

It's amazing to me that people seem to be influenced by such a small group of people, and people just follow along!
