>It paves the way for Britain's seventh leader in 10 years
How come the revolving door? I'd like to taste a bit of that here in the US, but isn't such frequency societally destabilizing? I am not up on UK election process (I assume elections happened), forgive my ignorance.

You should ask an American. Glad you asked, temperatures in Paris are of no concern to 99% of us in the US, we have our own merde to deal with. What's the big deal anyway, I had an AC unit hanging out of our concrete multi story bunker in Soviet Odessa. Some places are just hot and I am not gonna "man up" and keel over some ideology or architecture preservation, or I'd just move. The tech has been around for decades and has only gotten better and more efficient. Install AC, don't install it, swim in Seine if you must, buy a neck fan at Auchan or Carrefour, whatevs, Americans are pretty easy going, no matter the mother country and so are the Europeans™ , IME. We have other issues to tolerate or deal with for the next 2.5y, but that's a different thread. Cheers, mate, didn't want to come off nasty, I spent a considerable amount of time in Catalonia and Madrid, lovely everything.

But what about the coldest springs? It's wild, I was in Paris just this mid May and it was raining and hailing, berry sized icy projectiles from the sky. I had to pop into a Decathlon and get a waterproof jacket.

I just had to replace an AC in my condo in Miami. The replacement parts' cost for the old unit didn't make sense. Got a 3 ton Bosch unit, parts and installation was $6K. 3 tons is just enough for 1600 square feet and old single pane windows.
You cannot survive without an AC in Florida. Nor in Las Vegas, Dallas, NYC and the boroughs, the list goes on. Doable in Santa Monica or in the Bay perhaps.
Humidity is a larger burden on me than temperature. I can do dry Las Vegas at 100F, but can't stand Miami at 80F and 70% humidity.

A base trim Hyundai Ioniq 5 is now $35K in the US. The Slate looks very cool, I'd take 3, but it doesn't seem a good value as basic transportation, not including the perceived value of no telemetry, etc.

I think it's about the first thing that got you hooked. My Macintosh LC II with a 486sx daughtercard couldn't play Doom well. By the time I sorted my PC situation out, there was Quake.
For me the thing about Quake was the clans, CTF, LAN parties, QuakeC mods, Quake World. It was the first of its kind, perhaps not technically, but in capturing that zeitgeist. Yeah, there were DukeNukem, Heretic, Raven, UT, but we built our camaraderies around Quake, getting all tacticool with "10-4, RTB, RGR" and hanging out on the clan's IRC :)

Sorry, not a linguist by any means, I initially thought you meant there is no 1:1 mapping to the meaning ("outlook", "glance", "sight").
Are you talking about the v-z-g-l sequence of harsh consonants? That looks uninviting in print, but in practice it's just a quick puff of air.

I’ve been over handlebars a couple of times. The last time was riding a bicycle no faster than 10 mph, I hit some loose sand, the rear wheel swerved and I panicked. My MIPS saved my scull but I still looked beat up 2 weeks later, cheeks, chest, shoulders .
This is to say - I am aware of the dangers:) My state doesn’t even have a helmet law for motorcyclists.

In the States, they tow your car to a yard and hold it ransom until you fork out a $1K or so (depends on the state/municipality), with accrued daily surcharges. And, good luck finding the yard. They also only take cash or debit so that you cannot run a chargeback later on. I'd rather just pay a $300 ticket, don't tow my car.

I was at CUNY/Baruch in '91, discovering Usenet, Gopher etc at the campus' VMS, getting the thrill of using GameDoctor on my SNES. Then the civilians came onboard and all stopped feeling ... exclusive? How dare they voice their thoughts on comp.*, I am out...
It's all pure nostalgia for the times long gone. I get an urge once a year to get a thing from that era, and I do but I don't use it. That 90's Zelda does nothing for me anymore, but TOTK does.

Is that a bullet point in the Rust manifesto? :) In any case, ++ has taken another meaning outside of operator loading and such some.
The “Rust” branding, to this rando, implies corrosion, oxidation, decay, regardless of the true origin of the name. Swift is “quick”, Java is “caffeine”, Rust is something I need kerosene for.

Every podcast I listen to has a member/pro plan. TWIT, MWB, GoG, Connected, Upgrade, ATP, Rebound etc. $10/month each to round up. If I paid for all, that'd be about a $100/month.
I don't feel that's worth it, so I listen to the ads.
The problem with ads is that they are on repeat. Leo Raporte's ads are "obnoxious" in their length and breathiness, 5 mins long seemingly each. I don't know what the solution is, because I like his network, but I can't pick just one!

These "buy me a coffee" buttons make me feel guilty, similar to being shamed into tipping. I'll make a buy/don't decision when I see the cost upfront. Everyone makes choices on how they earn their living, I'm just saying these things make me uncomfortable and I wish there was a better way.
