>Each person is responsible for their own beliefs but the majority of people will not stay where they don't feel welcome.
Isn’t there a saying that republicans aren’t born republican but they are forced that way? Your anecdote rings true with my experience.

Upvote for usual MSM banter. In truth, JRE is good entertainment. It’s not a learning platform because there isn’t an active engagement component. He’s good at navigating you through a complicated issue by using storyline like pacing with the people he is interviewing being characters in his story. But it’s hardly ever anything one can hold onto once that episode is done. He’s pleasant to listen to and the bit of drama keeps it fresh and spontaneous.

But apparently these women are…educated? I don’t know how it all works if the end result of education (or being “liberal”) is being bigoted and clueless and lacking complete empathy towards the opposite sex.
Sounds like bog standard indoctrination and party line to me.

We should establish a Haidt of online gambling so we can have another merry-go-round into how there isn’t enough conclusive evidence to correlate gambling to shitty outcomes.
Any volunteers? We are all here in the breeches waiting for a champion to rise up and give us the arena for the smorgasbord of shitposting that is about to commence from the vultures that benefit off of societal decay.
Edit: not sure why the downvotes. This is exactly what’s going to happen.
Edit 2: Bingo. See one of the top posts in this thread defending gambling by trying to draw parallels to alcohol. Let the shitposting begin.

> Due to the complexity of the signalling involved with ethernet, a dedicated ASIC is generally used, which takes in data at the frame level, and takes care of wiggling the electrical lines in the right way over a cable (though there are of course exceptions).
Like others in this thread I was hoping I’d see an RJ45 breakout board directly hooked into an STM32 and doing onerous bit banging and keeping it as low level and basic as possible.

As an aside I’ve yet to come across anything more technically complete than ClearType. Bitmaps/Textures done via some janky early-2000 NeHe tutorial inspired thing aren’t even on the table. Yeah people will hate on Microsoft and Windows and bicker and whatever, I don’t care because of all the shit I’ve dealt with trying to use freetype and additional libraries, ClearType has never let me down. I’ve used D2D with D3D in conjunction with shared surfaces and other hacks to join the two, and it’s pleasant enough that the final product is well worth the programming agony.

Already covered some basic points: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42089428
TikTok should be addressed as a tool that’s used to sow discord in the West, as it’s in control of China and by extent Russia as its economic (and military) ally. Bluntly speaking this seems to be isolated, intentionally provocative incidents that are being drummed up far beyond a reasonable amount. It’s internet being internet, for the most part. So naturally, Wired and the rest will jump on it for clicks as a pop culture thing.

It’s a trite and boring remark. You can do better.
When someone’s bargaining chip in geopolitical, economical, territorial and social affairs lies between their legs, it’s time to reconsider if they’re at the right table armed with the right arguments. This has been perennial. At a certain state of things, countries will shift from caring about two sexes as opposing halves and will bolt down as a means of preserving a country and a people. Look to China who is, against all odds, leading the way resoundingly.
As it stands, this 4B thing is an absurd stance brought out of a country that’s facing far worse circumstances than US of A. I’ve outlined who it would negatively impact the most. In this case, it’s much like being hoisted by one’s petard. It’s also an infeasible strategy because it has too many weaknesses that are immediately flanked.
2016 had Pussy Hat Protests that went nowhere. I suspect this is more of the same.
I can’t comment on what a proper and effective response to the election would be. It would certainly help if Democrats got together and put forward a candidate that gives a damn about the country and the rights of the people. But they didn’t, so the “other party” that actually cares will enact policies that benefit them instead. And they have tremendous support of a rather large population, so who am I to argue otherwise?
Men are used to being shamed for things that are not their fault at all. So this does not change the status quo much for most.
In the meantime, we’ll kvetch and play pretend and amuse ourselves by drumming up as much chaos and rage as we can over this world wide web of ours.
If this does escalate and rape cases increased, who would help? Men? The same ones that are despised?
As a closing remark to anyone on HN thinking this is a viable strategy: when you go to war with someone, dig a grave for two.

News cares about subjects that impact women. Not so much men. So when Trump or anyone else is elected that men rally behind, it’s a shock, it’s betrayal, it’s this it’s that.

No that’s just the shit shoveling rags like quillette and Atlantic do. The author is insufferable and kept more on top of her schmoozing agenda than she did on figuring out why people voted. It’s like the article with the woman going into welding: looking, but not seeing. Fucking classists, they have no shame. It’s like they’re chronicling a page in their journal of investigations into alien life forms.
Wake me up when people start saying: “you know, if I was in your situation I would have voted for trump too.” Then, and only then, can we have a decent discussion around issues and solutions.
(Inb4 “did we read the same article?” - I assure you, we did.)
