Second this. After having a chat with some coworkers, I've been attempting to write more thoughtful and longer commit messages. I had this exact experience yesterday after I had staged my commit and was writing the message. I realized that there was a better way to do this change and redid the whole thing.

I've learned recently at my new job that ePubs are just a giant zip file of html, css, etc. Sometimes you need to rezip them if they are not working quite right and I imagine that is what converting them from ePub to ePub is doing.

> (a) work is effectively infinite and (b) the things worth doing or seeing exceed the capacity of a human life.
These are some of the main ideas in the book 4000 Weeks: Time Management for Mortals. I think it is one of those rare self help books that are actually worth a read.

The title of this article really captures the feeling I had when I decided to ditch my iPhone. My mobile device was the last piece of tech that I owned that did not truly feel like I owned it. I've recently switched to an original Pixel running LineageOS. There are only a handful of pain points for me that make the switch difficult, most notably navigation. The feeling of actually having control of my device seems to be worth it so far.

Lately I have been doing my best to limit my "optional" screen time (optional meaning anything that is not for work and school). I fingered though Cal Newport's "Digital minimalism" [1] about a month and a half ago and decided to try out the 30 days tech fast in the book. The idea is to use this time to reset your relationship with tech and to really figure out what you value and what you are trying to accomplish with your tech habits. If other people are like me and struggle with compulsiveness with using the internet and computers, I recommend giving it a shot.
[1] https://www.samuelthomasdavies.com/book-summaries/business/d...

Not a worker rush. Worker rushes only really work against lower ranked players that panic and do not know how to respond.
The reason is that while the attacking player sends over their workers to attack, the defending player is still constantly making workers. By the time that attackers get there the defending player should have more workers. He simply has to command all of them to fight the opponent's workers.

Around January of this year, I took the plunge and deleted all of my social media accounts. It's been great, and I am pleasantly surprised with how easy I was able to cut cold turkey.
What I can not seem to quit, however, is excessively watching YouTube and Twitch. I spend so much of my time everyday on these platforms and I find it difficult to pull myself away from them. If anyone has any tips or advice on this, I would appreciate it.

>... for thousands of years the Church said we should interpret it literally.
This is completely false.
Source is the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
http://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/p1s1...
In Sacred Scripture, God speaks to man in a human way. To interpret Scripture correctly, the reader must be attentive to what the human authors truly wanted to affirm, and to what God wanted to reveal to us by their words.
In order to discover the sacred authors' intention, the reader must take into account the conditions of their time and culture, the literary genres in use at that time, and the modes of feeling, speaking and narrating then current.
I found this book [1] as a good starting point in understanding how XMPP works. It was written almost a decade ago, but it is really good for walking you through examples of how the protocol works to accomplish something.
I also recommend using Gajim. It's a really solid XMPP client that has a feature that I found super helpful. In it's advanced feature, it has something called the XML console. You can see the stream of XML between the client and the server to see a real example of what is going on in the background. You can even send your own XML and see how the server will respond to it.
I'm pretty new this stuff as well. At my work, I'm helping build a chat solution for one of our products. XMPP seemed to make the most sense for us. I'm not an expert or anything, but I found these super helpful.
Good luck to you!
[1] https://oriolrius.cat/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Oreill...
