Polars vs. DuckDB vs. Daft vs. Spark"

for me the issue is that DuckLake's feature of flushing inlined data to parquet is still in alpha. one of the main issues with parquet is when writing small batches you end up with a lot of parquet files that are inefficient to work with using duckdb. to solve this ducklake inlines these small writes to the dbms you choose (postgres) but for a while it couldn't write them back to parquet. last I had checked this feature didn't yet exist, and now it seems to be in alpha which is nice to see, but I'd like some better support before I consider switching some personal data projects over. https://ducklake.select/docs/stable/duckdb/advanced_features...

I've seen Harris pronounce her name a variety of different ways... One of the more compelling reasons behind throwing accusations of wrongspeak when folks pronounce her name one way or another is that "kuh-mul-ah" sounds like "burn her" and rhymes with "suck on it" in Spanish, which might have triggered this to begin with.

Caloric restriction (CR) leading to longer lifespan doesn’t generalize, including rhesus monkeys [1]. Moreover, across various species there seems to be negative correlation between average lifespan and effectiveness of CR and lifespan extension [2].

I was trying to find stuff around Oct 2003 when the last event of this magnitude took place, but I wasn't able to find anything comparable. From what I can tell the forecast is more mild on the 12th UTC, so I wouldn't worry that much about that. I was worried in my case because my flight leaves pretty much at the apex of the geomagnetic storm.
I think we can expect delays, GPS being unresponsive, radio issues, and some control tower congestion & issues. Can't really comment with any more detail.

I'm quite worried as I'm on a transatlantic flight during this event, and there have been 6 solar eruptions with at least 4 CMEs (NOAA not up to date with the enlil spiral just yet). Here are a couple useful links I'm using to keep track of this event: NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center dashboards [1], FlightAware Flight Delays and Cancellations [2] and NOAA Global Positioning System Community Dashboard [3], Prof. Mathew Owens post [4]
[1] https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/communities/aviation-community-das...

based on scientific research, much like communism and scientific management and phrenology and racism. meanwhile climate models are not capable of predicting the past given current conditions, produce wildly incompatible results, and operate on a model of the earth that is pathetically simplistic, ignoring cloud coverage (which has 3-20x the magnitude of effects of carbon) solar variability and wind patterns. the world might end as we know it for it is clear that crucial features of the earth are changing at a rapid pace, especially oceanic currents, but it will happen in a way that completely surprised most people, if not climate scientists that are aware of the limits of their models.

care to elaborate how is Tether a scam? is it because they earn the yield difference on user reserves while giving nothing to users? if that's so, probably due to how US law views securities. other than that, it appears as though users get exactly what they want from tether, which is: dollars

lol I bet that works, you can also rub garlic directly on warts and other skin issues I’ve been helped by that in the last. On a separate note, 6,000 IU of d3 is nowhere near a megadose lmao, the study that supposed that it’s dangerous was wrong due to a typo, doses of 50,000 IU over 6mo have been tested and found to be safe. I personally take around 10-15k daily depending on sun exposure and once a week take 30k IUs, along with other things. I would recommend experimenting with 10k daily dose at least if you’re willing to check it out :)

I haven’t kept track of the strength of the last coronal mass ejection, but I know you are wrong in this regard, because coronal mass ejections take around 3 to 4 days, sometimes even longer to reach earth. Other effects from solar flaring, such as x-ray particles, and high charge electrons arrive, basically, instantaneously along with light (~8m)
