Maybe the pharmaceutical industry can target a new market here...

Impressive that corals have such a survival mechanism. But hopeless if no other species of algae can enter another symbiotic relationship with them?

My open questions would be:

1. What's the consequence of corals expelling algae?

2. Why does heat make corals expel algae?

I would like to say "let's see how that goes". But I'm afraid I don't quite trust that "things will just go well". At least not nearly as fast as A(G)I development is happening. I feel fortunate that I don't worry about this too much personally, but I fear for our economy, laid off (office) workers, their families, in a few months and years. What am I to do? How can we fix this? Am I exaggerating?

Where I work we have a 100% office policy. And while that sometimes feels hilarious, I am also somewhat glad about it because I like working and connecting with people physically.

However, as mentioned, I do notice that even though I am physically in the office most days, I spend an increasing amount of time alone on my computer and work with my agents. It’s satisfying in it’s own way, and I am definitely more productive. But it’s also worrisome. The pace of this development is picking up, and I don’t yet see where this is going exactly, or if I like where what I can see is going.

Related: We recently interviewed a candidate who worked remotely for the past 3-4 years. He said he'd be looking forward to work in the office again. I could honestly feel that he meant it, and I understand that. I guess some mix of both is the best.

I wonder if there's a tangent with social media here, at least some of it, where in my experience "a perfect life lived by influencers" is portrayed to us.

I guess you can start to see that happen (for a while now) with e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, etc. keeping persistent memory of you, automatically.

Personally, I often find these memorization features annoying, because - more often than not - the persisted context is outdated because something in my real life changed that ChatGPT & co are not aware of.

IMO the interesting part with this capability now (undoubtedly?) is to find the right applications/problems to solve... and yeah, why not every now and then have some fun and go full overkill with your personal website :-)

I recently thought about this and fear that AI may further drive us humans apart.

Instead of working with humans, I increasingly work with a fleet of agents.

And increasingly, batteries are also coming to such sites. Would be very interested in learning more about the study's analysis/impact regarding this trend.

Sure it lacks the finish and attention to detail. But this was one prompt (vs. 60 threads).

Thoughts: I find this both exciting and a bit unsettling. Idea-to-product time in tech just keeps shrinking and shrinking. I feel limited by my own ideas now (1), and by the fact that everything still remains "digital" - ChatGPT still can't build me a house or fix my broken knee (2).
