Solution is not to have another app that is built on likes, nor on feeds. We have seen, even for adults the apps built to constrain the use of social media apps and devices are ineffective. Only way forward is to create opportunities for real time, conversations that are not chat based. It has also shown that people are less mean, when interacting in real time with a human as opposed to writing a short comment. Especially in US, where defaults are system are creating more walls between people, instead of creating more opportunities to interact in real time. People sit in car, from there isolated single family homes, and go to their destination mostly that way. There is no spontaneous opportunities to mingle with the neighbors, nor with new people at train stations or at town square. I built https://tosynch.com to do one thing, and one thing only : reconnect with friends and meet often. No likes, no feeds, no ads, no noisy notifications, setup and forget.

Noted. Definitely worth considering. Also as chats have taken over the world, people don't open email for long time, and so much junk in email. I did have that at the back on the mind. I just did not want to the app to become too noisy, with text/SMS pings. Will look into NTFY/Pushover. Thanks for the feedback.

Correct. It sends email reminders, with Add to calendar link(ics can be downloaded and added to favorite calendar on phone/device). The thing about Whatsapp etc having the ability - none of these make recurring reminder easy. Focus of these apps is either in monetization or selling ads. Of course a calendar app can be used but then calendar does not initiate nudges. The friction is in the initiation. Each party thinks other should initiate.

Appreciate your thoughtful response. Your point on technology having failed to foster human relationships so far has lot of truth in it. But if we don't do anything, it is about get even worse. Hence primary design of the app is not to keep you hooked in the app. More features are in the works. One about group meetings, I have got several requests for. What you laid out is a tough challenge. Most people are so taken up by the constant dopamine hit of getting something from phone every few minutes that anything less than a native app is not even a starter. Yet, here I am. I don't want perfect to be enemy of good. Do what I can. I have been using it, and few of other friends, and it is has definitely facilitated meetings which would not have happened otherwise.

I built this app to solve problem I had, and perhaps others too. I have been finding tough stay in touch with friends. Other than occasional hi/hellos, there is lack of meaningful interactions ongoing basis. Tosynch helps with connecting with existing friends, without calendar setup. It does one thing only and focuses on that. There is no hidden agenda of selling personal data for ads, nor any scheme around increasing likes. There is no discovery mechanism, and no public profiles. If we want to reduce our usage of phones and devices, we don't need another app to helps us constrained. We want to create more opportunities to meet people we already know. Tosynch helps increase those opportunities. It nudges after a chosen period, to reconnect and meet. Feedback appreciated.

On thinking in humans, and it's process, UG 40+ years back : "That searching is thinking. But it is a mechanical process. In the word-finder or computer there is is no thinker thinking at all. If there is any information or anything that is referred to, the computer puts it together and throws it out. That is all that is happening. It is a very mechanical thing that is happening. We are not ready to accept that thought is mechanical because that knocks off the whole image that we are not just machines. It is an extraordinary machine. It is not different from the computers that we use. But this body is something living; it has got a living quality to it. It has vitality. It is not just mechanically repeating; it carries with it the life energy like that current energy."

Thanks. Indeed those are transformers, upon further digging(for some reason, I think of transformers as big, these are not big but boy they emit this low-buzz sound). And indeed it has been very challenging to have them moved, because as you said they probably picked this location based on a reason.

It is surreal that this article showed up now. I am going back and forth currently with our electric utility company. They upgraded capacitor pack on the pole by my house. And these new ones are generating so much of this kind of low buzz sound, it is unbearable. I was researching into what generates this noise, and found this article very timely. Only solution is to move these, as nothing else can be done about this sound. Which is turning into quite a project.

I used to dump every thing in GoogleDrive and search. I was enamored with keeping my notes in plaint text, so as to not tie these with any specific tools/app/formats as these go out of fashion every few years. However I realized I also have links/clippings from Web, which needs to be part of my searchable knowledge-base. And I want to be able to clip/bookmark those from my phone as well as Mac and Windows machines. Evernote works great for such use, and has tags(it does not keep notes in plain text format though, these are supposed to be exportable though). I would not mix video/movies with text based content though(links are fine).

I am surprised there is not much noise over this. In my city, they recently replaced street lights with the LED ones. These were so bright and piercing, I complained to the city, and they replaced ones near my house to lower intensity one. Still the other one's not the nearest to my house are still so bright, it is very unpleasant, even though they are at a distance. No one in my neighborhood seems to be bothered by these? In my opinion these pose serious risk to health, not just ours but to birds, animals and plants. Even when driving on roads, where these lights are on, they just hit you like a sunlight.
