bad deal for Mauritius. they didn’t gain any sovereignty, they lost some. why? because now the foreign military base is officially on Maritius soil. so US now has a base in Mauritius just like they have in Japan and other places and those places can’t do anything about it

misleading article, pretending this is some kind of scientific evidence of fraud without mentioning other possible explanations.

the most likely and obvious explanation is that there was a mistake in the final report not in the raw data. they just rounded the percentages first and gave them to someone who then made the report with the number of votes based on that.

you can’t really distinguish a mistake from fraud in this case. and then they will fix the mistake and people will say “aha we caught them and now they try to hide it”

it's kind of obvious. the closer we are to a world war, the better US will do because it's the safest place to invest. who is going to invest in china when US is pumping weapons into taiwan. seems more or less the same blueprint as with ukraine. if war starts, your investment in china is worth 0.

officially, ukraine could not use them on their own. only russia had the "launch codes". part of the reason why they gave them up in the first place. not sure how much of a problem that is in practice. in any case, ukraine would have also needed the resources to maintain them which is no easy task. so I guess the answer is: we'll never know if it had any impact.

not sure there is much point to this. currently no model is even at the level of primary school math. it will take decades until it can win a gold medal in maths. it won't happen overnight. it will happen slowly. will they still give out the prize in 20 years from now, when it won't seem like such a breakthrough?
