I've seen that people (probably reddit teens) still install those "Windows Black Version" warezed Windows that come full of crap. I wonder how fruitful those have been for getting peoples data/money.

Teen me was never stupid enough to install a not only cracked but probably malware/virus packed OS thankfully.

I tried to dig into who/what that was a decade ago out of curiosity if she/they were someone whose software you would want to install and could find nothing, but every person playing a cracked version uses it..

I've been using omlx and qwen for almost a year but have bounced around clients a bunch, and it seemed like everything was specific to claudes style of config layout, so I've been putting all of my skills/agents/md files in my ~/.claude as a catchall for bouncing between pi.dev/claude/vscode/etc. and just seeing what happens. I really haven't used claude itself much so reasonable but I didn't know it didn't look at AGENTS.md, for instance. Also using some memory/kb system that puts $myKB.md in directories to pre-fill context by project/workspace.

I'm currently using oh-my-pi but in the quest for optimization and token trying to get better than 30t/s on my m1 max 64gb (qwen3.6-a35b) I probably need to spend some time just making pi base into what I need and not the opinionated omp setup I have that probably makes the initial context larger than it should be.

I'm between work and can't afford the $100+ frontiers but it does get really frustrating spending hours/days tweaking this stuff to almost no benefit sometimes. When I do get to use a frontier it's such a nice break from fixing things. The local llm stuff can definitely be a bit frustrating right now and zap the energy I have for work out of me when it goes awry.

All of the Windows ones have horrible throttling problems, my $3k dell xps 13z was just terrible.

I hope this takes off, maybe we'll start getting neat consumer stuff from Apple again.

I've migrated many companies off of cloudflare, usually because they end up pissing off companies when a contract renewal comes up and they slam them with massively increased bills and almost useless support if you aren't very high paying enterprise. I don't know how many CF support tickets I've just given up on over the last 15 years, usually related to their admin page, workers or some weird thing their system does that wasn't documented and I just stop getting responses and definitely don't get fixes.

If you ever worked in webhosting the Cloudflare wordpress/etc extensions are everywhere and back when I did work in hosting tons of support tickets were made because of CF. Could be way better now, I don't go near that industry these days.

The casual CF user sticking it in front of a blog they rarely look at and the business forced CF user has a very different experience. I cringe and seriously consider if I'm interviewing for an infra role and they use cloudflare. Usually it's startups that grew into larger businesses.

You're of course correct in the os APIs, etc, my frustration comes when you're modding games and what not and the Apple notifications make it sound like you're giving your system to the app, when it IS acting for the low permission.

Between quick mod tools and even just the mods watch out nowadays. That vibe coded new game tool for a game you've played 10 years and never seen before could be just vibe coded malware slop, especially if its asking to sign software or bypass it. Now gamers are getting used to disabling security stuff just to play games.

Also I've been shadowbanned from a bunch of social media sites and had problems with payment systems, etc because Starlink confuses companies tracking user locations to geoips etc.

Won't even get into the apps that look downloaded and usable until you open them with no signal and they don't work before phoning home.

I've been meaning to go through ALL my apps and delete everything I don't use, I haven't installed a new app in years.

Then you have MacOS now that has the most "wtf" level permission prompts that make you think everything is phoning home or trying to access stuff on your network when it's just connecting bluetooth devices or something daily. I don't know how many games I've installed that now show up as having full screen or keyboard control permissions just to use input devices. I work on this stuff and can deduce what it's doing, especially after googling it, but "Stupidgame needs control of your system" is wild to someone who doesn't, I'm sure.

I've been wondering if it's almost nefarious that they want to get people used to allowing these seemingly system wide controls to be given to.. everything, by hiding the security-ok things behind a giant red flag warning.

Open the watchduty app and start looking into how many fires are currently arson suspected/apprehended and how this is the largest national wildfire year we've ever had.

The Dick and Cleetus methheads doing this stuff aren't the brightest and most well informed tech risk takers out there. Most of them will get caught and never get a dime, who the hell knows how why or else they're causing fires, the FBI isn't investigating anyone. They don't tell us WHY an arson occurred. Who knows how many of these apps exist in other markets, etc. The last global wildfire article I saw said either 86 or 96 arsons were arrested. I can't remember if it was France or in Africa.

This is THE strangest wildfire year anyone has had and the news is nowhere.
