This is a facile and pointless discussion. The hard work in building source code is paying millions of dollars to software engineers to write it. "Open source" allows others to benefit from this expenditure. The hard work in building an ai model is spending millions of dollars on training. "Open source" models allow others to benefit from this expenditure. Regardless of whether you had access to the complete training data and architecture of a model, you would never retrain from scratch in order to make a modification to the model. You would fine-tune in whatever behaviour you wanted. Just like open source software is when you are allowed to modify it, open source models are when you are allowed to fine tune like this.

Fighter jets don't need 100%. In a war, we accept a much higher rate of casualties than we do in day to day driving. I would also imagine that while planes are harder for a person to pilot, they are easier for a computer. Most of what makes them hard is mechanical, not dealing with unexpected situations.

There's no question about it. Llm output is not copyrightable. Which is moot anyways, because training on copyrighted data is completely legal.

The "head of strategic futures" at openai stated "I don't think [kimi's] performance can be explained away by distillation". So you're premise is likely faulty.

That's unlikely for two reasons, first because minecraft is closed source, and second because arch packages usually follow upstream very closely.

Or require it of all devices sold in the EU, regardless of where those devices are later brought. This would be entirely defensible - "we're just regulating products sold within our market" - but inevitably they would make their way outside the EU to be resold.

Why would they need to? Stalking you doesn't require a warrant. Breaking into your house, for example, would require a warrant, but a PI can't do that any more legally than the police can.

Most implementations I've seen use an ioctl to query those particular bits. That's implemented quite reliably, since the same ioctl is used for character size as window size. Some implementations just set the character size to zero though.

An inch in aspect ratio is a relatively large change, considering it entails ~70% of an inch in both dimensions. It would be better to compare screen area or vertical and horizontal dimensions separately, to get a clear picture of the difference.
