I was working on a science experiment (electromagnetics) with my 10-year-old kid that was going to be demonstrated at a science fair in his school. We ran into a hiccup with the experiment that we couldn't debug ourselves. I turned on Gemini live video call to help us root cause the problem. It was able to clearly articulate all the possible issues and eventually was successful in making our apparatus work as expected. Turned out the wire that I was wrapping around the screw had some insulation that was not scraped off well on the side it was connecting to the battery. Gemini was able to capture this detail even though my bare eyes could not. My kid and 2 of his friends were impressed not just by the experiment, but because the live audio/video back and forth we had with the AI was almost magical!

If this will kill all bacteria and viruses, it would certainly also destroy the beneficial bacteria that forms our microbiome and that could have negative health effects in the long run. Has any research been done to check on this?

Couldn't agree more. Inspite of being a hardcore meat-eater, I often enjoy authentic vegan food because of the actual plant based ingredients such as beans, beatroot and corn. The flavors come together quite nicely in an old school veggie bean patty. The trend with impossible meats disappoints me.

This could be 'the' groundbreaking medical discovery of our century, if proven to work. I think I read some stats recently about how most people in the near future will not die of sudden conditions like heart failure etc but rather die due to slow killers like cancer (I will try to corroborate the reference here if I find it) and this may have a huge impact on humanity.

I beg to differ as if we were to judge purely based on this logic China and India would have probably also been at the top of the curve, which is not really true. Both of these countries greatly value family and it's quite typical for people to stay with their parents well into 30's and beyond.

Please don't use quotes when you're not quoting verbatim from the article. The author is clearly just suggesting a path forward for Indian companies to maintain a stream of revenue going forward. Nowhere did he suggest that India is an expert in industrial robotics, he's just suggesting the country could explore that as an option.

Seriously don't understand the point of this story other than the implied racist undertones. Why is it important to highlight the nationality of the students in the title, when the failure is clearly on the part of the university admissions office for not vetting the student applications/GRE scores etc prior to having them fly in. The nationality just happens to be related to the country where the recruiters looked in. I bet they would have found equally unqualified candidates in any other country, but it's far easier to go to India where just by the way of shear numbers you can swoop in a lot more interested candidates in a much shorter time period.
