The web is becoming very hostile to ad blockers. I use a VPN and I've noticed more and more sites just being obnoxious with their popups and even just crashing the site completely in a loop (looking at you EuroNews)

What a shame for Cursor. I found it a great tool - I actually liked Composer 2.5; but now being bought by SpaceX has for a while left a bad taste - and they keep pushing Grok and now GrokBot.

I took the 50% discount instead of cancelling - but with this I'll likely not renew.

So sad to watch them go from great to mediocre in such a short time.

Brittany - probably a bit west of Rennes. I like the coast but once you pass Saint-Brieuc the roads get a lot smaller.

Well until this year it seemed like the coolest and most stable part of France - also the least French part and reminds me of Scotland.

(We have friends who just sold up and moved to near Bordeaux - not sure it they are regretting it yet)

This. I'm originally from the UK, now in NL and the plan was to retire in France. Being close to a hospital is one requirement since some of these villages are over a hour away.

With that and climate change our plans might be changing

I'm very glad this now exists - fwiw almost a decade ago I worked on https://github.com/takeoff-env/takeoff as a solution for making it easier for hot reloading your stack which is thankfully redundant today, and funnily enough the list of problems you identify is also something I've been working on.

Recently I've also been working on a VM stack for an agentic platform using pre-build images with some cloud injection scripts that simplifies the deployment of a private agentic cluster - in the end I went with full VM with a 4vCpu/8gb for the main agent and 2vCPU/4Gb - only the main agent had docker-in-docker, the rest rootless docker but I agree it's still an elevated risk.

I'll definitely have to give this a spin and see if I can simplify it to one larger box with this solution.

Something I noticed in Star City was how well they managed to find the aesthetic from the time of the USSR.

A set designer can of course find pieces from the time, but I always find with shows made now it always feels retro rather than authentic, but in this show they managed to find some genuine time capsules.

This month I've noticed that my Cursor model use has gone up faster with Composer 2.5 - I have bothered with Grok yet. Despite the advertised twice-the-usage on Cursor own models I'd say it's burning faster.

On the 29th June 2026 - if you searched for Jim Carrey on Google, you would have been presented with a Knowledge Panel stating that he had died the previous day. The panel included a date of death and a biography written in the past tense.

Working in knowledge engineering I saw a failure mode in action on a global scale.

Hadn't heard of AOP before, but funnily enough for a couple of years now I've been calling working with LLMs "aspective coding" - closer to switching context on different features. Will read up a bit more on AOP as it seems like the prior art on this way of thinking.

One example - I'm building an MCP server at the moment for a database I'm working on. In ChatGPT I want to do dry-run posts first that roll back before committing - both are POST requests with a property - and it loves to trigger the safety layer in the tools (for various reasons, it's hard to debug exact causes)

But I think this would make it better - QUERY before POST means different request types, not just the same with a safety flag.

It feels like the market on tokens has changed - until recently you were buying actual usage. Now it feels more like an all-inclusive resource where you buy 'tokens' that the resort decides the value of - watered down drinks and cheap buffet for everyone!
