This attitude doesn't square with the dense bureaucracy, unavoidable surveillance, and complete monopoly on violence that modern nations hold. Especially in a place like Russia, where "organizing" is nearly impossible because opposition leaders have a bad habit of accidentally eating plutonium and nerve agents.

Internet Archive and Project Gutenberg come to mind. Wikipedia might be an encyclopedia, but those are the libraries.

You know... That seems like just about the most click-bait title possible. I'm leaving that one alone. Dismissive? Maybe, but some things really are better left dismissed. It's totally reasonable. It's not hard to maintain a safe following distance. Sudden braking isn't the only reason to do so, and insurance claims aren't the only motivating factor. You drive defensively so as to reduce the likelihood of death and destruction while making life easier for other drivers.

This is something everyone should be required to do. Try to last a month at it. I sure couldn't. But I'll be damned if it didn't make me 1000x more considerate towards just about everyone. We all have a choice whether to cause a fuss over stuff that hardly matters, or whether we blame someone for circumstances outside their control. There's no clearer way to see these problems and decide what kind of person you're going to be than there is from the ground level.

Your family is not every family. Your definition of handle is not everyone else's definition of handle. Your kids are not everyone else's kids. "Frazzled" is normal because the past few years have been completely batshit. Your community's response is not everyone else's community's response, nor are the stresses and behavioral side effects.

Except it's not supposed to be hot enough to cause third-degree burns. The entire event is horribly mischaracterized.
