It wouldn’t be HackerNews without the top comment explaining how the real fault lies with labor and not the rent seekers who showed up afterwards and sucked up all the excess value from consumer and supplier.

That was fantastic, thanks for posting. One thing I really loved about it was what was missing: there was no explicit attempt to make a point or to assert a universal truth; it was just the facts of what happened and take it as you will.

I actually asked Claude about that this week and it was fairly interesting: the estimates are based on historical data, so I think that suggests in the current set up there will always be wild gaps. As best I could tell, the estimates you get are probably for the model one or two whole versions ago?

Now do TD (the original)! I remember thinking it was something from the future when it came out on C64. Similar feeling of seeing something from two years from now with Mach 3 in the arcade.

That's not how classical valuations worked though. I was taught the rough shorthand for valuing a company was profits / real_interest_rate, treating the company like a perpetuity. I bought a Radxa Cubie A7A over the weekend because my homelab machine of 5 months threw an SSD and I wanted something to limp along with while I wait for a replacement. I was a bit nervous about the special builds, driver issues, etc but didn't really run into any significant issues (or if I did, Claude took them in stride). And it was a very good test of the Ansible Playbook I'd thrown together over time to rebuild the system from scratch. Was missing a number of small things, but it should be rock solid by the time (if) the other company gets a new drive to me.

Do you want to release it to the general public or just a circle of friends and family? TestFlight lets you have up to a hundred users forever without ever truly releasing. I have a couple of home-relevant apps I am managing that way.
