Startups sacrificing profit on customer acquisition is understandable. But it is a huge red flag when they start losing both.

One thing they were right about was this being "Standard Practice". Even spotify is doing it https://twitter.com/braintube/status/1148645026936827905.
So how does one remove these from their machine ? I can kill the process but it will just start again when I restart the machine. Also how do they do this ? I thought all startup items will be shown under Login Items in System Preferences.

The "you are the product" model might work, but given that most ad-blockers also block trackers(or dare I say, most people want to block trackers, ads are just collateral damage), you might have to come up with self made analytics/advt tools.
This might work but again how can a small time publishing house keep up with the blockers?
Donations + sponsored content might work as well. Some good youtube content creators use it(eg: Kurzgesagt). But this will work only for very small teams. Even better if you live in cheaper countries with a worldwide target audience.
Doesn't help much when you are a publisher trying to sell some serious news.

Or put it another way, If one were to start an online publishing house what would be the recommended business model? Other than the ad-blocker ad-bocker-blocker cat and mouse game or paywalls.

"But many, including Engadget, found the interface to be needlessly complicated and confusing."
This and I noticed that the pulley system really slowed me down when trying to accomplish a task with the device. On an iOS or Android device one can achieve frequent tasks quickly without looking but not the same with the pulley system. You can't go too fast when pulling down.
