This was my first thought as well.
I know for me personally; I always absorb more information when I am just listening and not writing.
When I'm writing whatever the teacher is saying, I can't understand it at the same speed. So I just write without actually comprehending the sentences.
But my listening was always so good that I rarely took notes throughout all my school years. I would just stare at the teacher and listen without writing anything.

There are use cases for low TTLs and use cases for high TTLs
The statement here is misguided.
Use whatever TTL serves your purpose.
DNS was designed to be distributed and scalable. And in my opinion it is THE MOST scalable protocol as it basically allowed the entire internet to work that way. Any user in the world can get any public DNS record for a site.

I grew up as a heavy gamer, and it became my identity.
I absolutely got addicted to games and I still struggle with functioning in daily life without trying to go back and play 1-2 hours of games each night for the dopamine hit.
More importantly, I missed out on actual real life experiences throughout my childhood all the way till I was 28.
I let me kids play games now, but as long as it doesn't overtake more useful activities (reading, going out, playground, socializing with friends, swimming, biking)

This comes at an interesting time in my life.
I too decided to take the chaos out of my life, but it was much simpler than I had always thought.
1. Stop watching Youtube and browsing Reddit in your free time
2. Stop playing games in your free time
3. Stop using your phone for wasting time
4. Stop watching TV when you eat
5. Stop listening to podcasts while you sleep
6. Stop eating snacks with TV
What ends up happening as a result
- You start to sleep earlier and better
- Reading books becomes interesting again
- You wake up earlier and feel more fresh
- Realize you have a lot of free time
- Going outside for a walk is more interesting (less boring)
- Work tasks that were boring, now hold your attention more
- Finishing work tasks, and house chores, feel more rewarding now
A much shorter summary of this 'diet' is called the 'Dopamine Detox'.
What I'm trying to say is, a lot of this chaos and burnout, is just related to our addiction of time-wasting and addictive habits like browsing youtube and reddit more and more.

That's exactly the point though. Americans have no idea how terrible their cities are because they only compare to themselves.
It's ALL terrible. Please DO compare to Europe. Let's strive for better cities period, not just OK in the context of North America.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWsGBRdK2N0
But basically suburbs can be designed well too.
It needs to have strong public transit that connects to the city (or wherever most people work).
And you still need good walkable and bikable paths everywhere. Because driving cars just sucks for everyone.

I can relate to this.
My understanding is you're addicted to dopamine.
You need a dopamine fast. Just take away all your dopamine sources for a 1 day, or 1 week. And then self reflect on its effects on you.
The repeat it every once in a while or whenever you need it.
1 day a week. Or 1 week per month. Something like that.
You've encouraged me to do the same. I'm very unhappy with my own addiction to youtube and social media. Though its more like 2 hours per day maybe
