Unfortunately there are often questions of liability. What if you commit code that later becomes subject to litigation? It's more complicated than "we don't want to". (I'm fully supportive but when legal is involved you have to be able to justify the risk).

I can absolutely recommend the book On Bullshit, it's a tiny read and makes an excellent gift. Kate's article summarizes it very well.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_Bullshit
This reddit comment puts it perfectly:
"What’s it about? Frankfurt tries (successfully) to define bullshit (rather academically). In short, a bullshit artist is solely focused on persuasion and making an impression, not caring about truth. Paradoxically, bullshit can be true.
What makes it bullshit is how it is created - shoddily, hastily and without regard for fine work. A gifted liar does their thing carefully so that the truth cannot be found out. A bullshit artist just flings it out, overwhelming skepticism with sheer volume, until something sticks with the audience."
https://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/1pidpb2/on_bullshit_...
An 1980s take on something that has taken over our 2020s digital airwaves, indeed.

I grew up watching racing thanks to my grandad's interest but all with all the tech involved in these high end machines it's like watching jetplanes or something mechanical, maybe it's because I can't connect anymore to what's happening on a human level. I love the thrill of a fast boat but it's lost me on the accessibility that I remember from the 80s and 90s. I remember how crews and captains would be celebrities, now it seems it's a tech game?
Edit: it's a beautiful machine, regardless. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Ruh3hASFyGw

I don't game at all but watch at least one movie a day as my relaxing time: criterion collection, mubi etc. I go to an indie cinema about once a month, often to see older movies as much as new ones. The cinema is rarely full but they have a good café and affordable subscriptions and I'm guessing some municipal funding, they won't ever run out of films to show. Though the day A24 goes out of business will be my sad day.

Because 150 years ago the labour to keep the estate running was very cheap. Now that labour is expensive, it costs more in maintenance than the property is worth, unless it's highly productive land. Reminds me of the joke, how to make a thousand dollars: buy a million dollar boat.

Helpful for those who care less about the craft and more about a quick outcome. Werner Herzog said that he watches his footage a few times, takes extensive notes then edits based on his notes. That's how he crafts such extraordinary, once-in-a-lifetime stories. But for those who are working on commercial or home movies, why not use AI to build a narrative? It can be like throwing dice and the outcome could be OK. Maybe even good.
Regardless, having a tool that knows the content of your footage is a huge time saver. Good luck with the product.

Unless you are innocuously named Thomas Smith, yes it's incredibly dangerous to require real, usually traceable names. In protest we can all change our name to Thomas Smith (even us women) and then we'll see how fun it is for those that demanded this.
