This would have been great for a 2-letter .st domain I had been wanting for years (which appeared to be parked and just redirecting towards ticketmaster or something, with no contact info available). I was bummed about it for a long time, as the .st nic had a sale on 2-letter domains which made me want to pull the trigger, but it got scooped up a day or two prior apparently. I lucked out this year and saw they let it lapse! (I did have a yearly calendar reminder telling me to run whois :)

I guess it depends on what "derail" means (meaning, do you actually know one's internal state and if they are happy?). Is something wrong with living alone in a rural area if you are happy? (This sounds great to me, for reference!).

I've watched hundreds of people take them in great containers with great support. It's never a good idea to make big changes right away, but we take small steps to adjust our lives so we can actually be happy. Yes, even if that is less "productive". Why do we do the things we do anyways?

Why would you want your brain to ravel back up? I've worked at ayahuasca retreats and know many people who do it for a living (who are many of the most grounded people I know). Using these things in a therapeutic manner is a completely different thing than using them recreationally, might as well be a different substance. I'd guess those people who "permanently changed their brain" (whatever that means) were not in a context for actually healing.

When I read a title it helps me to determine whether I want to read it or not. This one is tricky and confusing because the company name is stupid and was probably picked for the clickbait potential. This is absolutely one where I read the comments before the link.

Kubernetes is only another application to me, it just manages containers (which probably run applications, which may be serving something, I guess?). Definitions have got a bit muddy since the advent of devops imo! (Maybe part of the weirdness is that this post is about an app that manages crons and files and other os-level stuff)

I'm still lost on how Kube has anything to do with server management (as someone who used to be a sysadmin and manage many servers, maybe my definition is just different?). Kubernetes doesn't solve any of the problems this does, it is so far from anything I would reach for to "manage" anything.

I think the systemd people state that it is more than an init system, maybe your expectation of it needs to be adjusted. "systemd is a software suite for system and service management on Linux built to unify service configuration and behavior across Linux distributions." One of the great things about Linux is that you can always choose a distro that fits your ideals (or whatever else).

If they offered a cheap plan ($2-3/mo) without the extras I'd sign up in a heartbeat. I happily pay for nextdns and being in that ballpark is reasonable to me.

I guess my caveat always is that I use Fedora (which does not include hw codecs by default due to licensing) and have to manage mesa/ffmpeg stuff myself. Adds a bit to the frustration (though it's self-inflicted so I don't usually complain :)

Cool, have been using vulkan video decoding via mpv for a while now and it seems fine with little or no performance hits. Glad it's made its way here as getting hardware decoding to actually work in ff has felt like a house of cards (more options are welcome). Does something need to be done to enable/switch to it?

I've been pretty blessed with my path- I've spent the greater part of the last 6 years steeped in traditional ayahuasca (Shipibo) work and it has convinced me that there is very likely something at the root that is not biological/genetic/structural in nearly all cases (the exceptions being schizophrenia/bipolar). The issue is that nearly no one is so blessed to be able to take off for the months/years it requires to actually get there. It's a huge commitment, and to support the lifestyle needed to live free of deep depression can require more changes than most are willing to make. In any case I did not mean to denigrate your own journey with my comment and apologize for it- I am glad you've found something to get your head above water and live.

Ketamine treats symptoms and is more like a bandaid from what I see, and comes with its own problems (addiction). Psilocybin and ayahuasca when used properly can help you to process and resolve many types of problems (traumas, past drug/alcohol use, sins). But you have to be willing to work (if you can't bear it alone, this is where the curandero or therapist comes in. If that idea doesn't work for you then probably stick to ketamine)

I'm on the fence about quality now. I really, really dislike the recycler and asteroid processing spamming as the endgame. But is it going to too hard to bother now? Will having to deal with the rare exceptions of actually having a quality item pop out be worth all the extra logic?

I've been using t2linux[0] patched distros on an Intel MBP for a while now. While I applaud the efforts, it is not without sharp edges, and I do occasionally have to boot into macOS to do some things. I gave up on trying to use the onboard or bluetooth audio (onboard can cause it to crash in weird ways, and bluetooth can break depending on if wifi is in 2.4 pr 5ghz mode? I don't know, I use a USB DAC now and it's fantastic). Trying to use the webcam causes a hard crash. Sleep is weird (but that's a given for most linux things I think). The maintainers do a good job of getting all their little hacks included...but I'd probably be frustrated with it all if I didn't have 25+ years of experience with linux and be able to fix things myself. The MBP was a gift and my only machine at the moment so I won't complain much personally :).
