What a nonsense idea, you'd need to nationalise news, in the USA, right now this would not go to well, imagine Trump having the only news outlet...

I grew up in late 70's early 80's UK and remember distinctly as a child the threats the USSR (then Russia) would make in this regard as they were being hammered by Sanctions.
Its a pretty cruel threat to live under that you don't quite understand - but now I'm older and do, cant help but feel the fear inducing threat of this is infinitely more destructive than actually facing people like Putin.

crows are super clever, when I drive brisbane to sydney they'll be in the middle of the road eating kangaroos and other dead animals, they dont fly away they just hop to the right of the line so I dont squish them at 100 miles an hour, watch me go by then go back to what they are doing - they actually know which side of the road I'll go past and that they will be safe.

I feel like it just confuses the issue with a bunch of unnecessary babble about DNS, theres better ways to read about how BGP works without confusing a bunch of different things. The only part of the article that was relevant was 'Routes were withdrawn' - the rest being a consequence of that.

Agreed. I've actively taken steps to combat it, only use my phone in black and white mode, and removed all apps. Stick to my PC for general browsing and my phone use as gone down to 30 minutes a day (mostly calls, messages with the wife, and email).

Most modern data centres wouldn't have had this issue, at least in in Australia they use Argonite suppression systems, these work by using a gas that is a mixture of argon and nitrogen that suppresses fire by depleting oxygen in the the data hall.
