I love Guix, I just hate that it requires such an invasive installation for it to work.
Compare it to pixi for example which has all the same features (pixi shell, pixi run, pixi pack, etc.) and requires only a small user-level installation and a folder specific deployment

Felicia Hemans's poem He Never Smiled Again is an ode to Henry I's reaction to his son and only male heir perishing in the tragedy

 > The bark that held a prince went down,
 > The sweeping waves roll’d on;
 > And what was England’s glorious crown
 > To him that wept a son?
 > He lived-for life may long be borne
 > Ere sorrow break its chain;-
 > Why comes not death to those who mourn?
 > —He never smiled again!

oh absolutely, but if they lose half their audience due to the sloppification of their front page, then they lose both legitimacy as an interesting and impartial platform to promote said AI tech

Its important to use these filtered front pages though, so that eventually theres a sizable Referrer traffic chunk coming not from HN's frontpage itself that will signal to the admins that something is up

The issue is the tech and the motives to wield it. Cosy decentralized message boards exist, thankfully outside the realm of the greater public.
The moment that the greater public sees these high trust networks and tries to join them, all the bad actors and their armies of bots will follow and I mourn for the recreation time of any admin who has to suddenly deal with that.
Private walled gardens seem to be the only way forward for now. If you love something, do not share it here

People can be predisposed towards something, and then have a tipping point brought by periods of great stress
Jason Arday recently committed suicide due to media pressure, and even when the media was told that he was not mentally well and should please back off, they didn't.
The man was accused of plagiarism, and there was no final verdict on if he did. The institutions that hired him clearly had no issues in vetting him. And yet he committed suicide.
There are absolutely horrible people out there right now who's entire careers are shams, and don't even come close to thinking about it. People are built different, and have different triggers
