I'm working on https://www.chessfunforlittleones.com/ - an electronic book to introduce children to chess through LED lights, poems and some cute chracters.
I launched the kickstarter a month ago and am currently finalising the logistics for shipping the books out and putting together the shopify site which should launch at some point in April.

Hi HN
I'm developing an electronic board book to teach children the basics of chess and for the last few months have had issues with my meta ad account being blocked. I recently moved to India and setup the account there but I used my UK payment details when trying to pay for a test ad, which is what I suspect triggered the automatic block.
As this is a new business I have no contacts within Meta to help me unblock my account, it's been incredibly frustrating raising appeal after appeal with no reply. As a last hurrah before probably just creating a new account I thought it would be worth asking here if
1. Anyone has been able to successfully unblock their ad account after being in a similar situation and if so how they did it
and/or
2. Any of my fellow HN readers who currently work at meta would be able to help me unblock my ad account
Thank you
PS I guess it feels weird to trust random strangers online but to give context that I am in fact a real person with a real product here is a link to the product I am working on
https://www.chessfunforlittleones.com/

No light sensors - each page has a small magnet embedded within it at a certain place with the pcb having a Hall effect sensor at the corresponding location

Hi Hacker News
I'm Mayghal, one of the engineers/designers/creators of Chess Fun For Little Ones - a new and unique Arduino based interactive book to introduce little ones to the world of chess through some colourful LED lights, characters and poems.
There's a video showcasing the book on our website: https://www.chessfunforlittleones.com/
We're planning to launch a kickstarter towards the end of the month so if you like the book, I would appreciate you signing up to be notified when the kickstarter goes live via our website :)
Thank you in advance for taking a look and let me know if you have any questions!

I get an annual $400 allowance from my company to spend on tech related books/courses/general education. I wanted some recommendations on what I could spend this money on.
Some background on me - I am an advanced python backend programmer (not web just general programs) but because don't come from a computer science background, recently completed (and loved) both nand 2 Tetris courses. What I learn doesn't have to be directly relevant to my career in any way and I'm open to anything that is just interesting in the computer science space.
I know interesting is subjective but I also welcome random suggestions that you enjoyed learning (has to be related to computer science/maths/physics) in some way so that I can at least see what is out there.
Some things I am thinking about learning more about
- Linux (thinking of getting How Linux works)
- System security (maybe black hat python?)
- Machine learning (maybe Andrew Ngs courses?)
- Improving as a tech manager (Haven't really researched any books on this...)
- General technology knowledge (byte go newsletter)

Pretty frustrated by this. I run a UAT instance on heroku free which I will now need to start paying for effectively doubling my cloud cost. Think i will migrate to fly.io instead which I guess is what they want to happen

Hi everyone!
My wife (a designer) and I (a developer) have been working on Their Name Here for the last few months after she struggled to find a cheap place card maker that had modern designs for our wedding.
The website is still under active development and she's got some more themed designs (tv shows/films/public holidays) planned for the next few months.
Would love your feedback and hope you use it for your next event :)
