Ask HN: Trace Linux system calls for a network call (HTTP)

As a tiny research or an itch to understand how a simple `curl -XGET http://httpbin.org/get` is performed in the linux land

I am interested in tracing the path it took from the moment it was command was executed for example: 1. System softwares (pieces of software that are interacted in achieving it) - curl source code that - open a socket - initiate a request - `recvFrom` socket - `write` to IO 2. Hardware (how processor, bus, network card) is also involved in the process

Is there an existing resource that explored this subject? would love to be linked to.

That's good to know :) Thanks. Yeah visual studio does seem to be nice with some insane features. With that being said, do you have a list of must have features in your editor

For example:

- Terminal kind interface part of the editor which keeps providing feedback in terms of any changes - Ability to version control your files (git commit/diff/abort) without leaving the editor - Any resources you could point me to that would be great which talks improving developer workflow with vim?

What are some of the awesome features does your text editor have which makes you productive and lets you ship things faster.

I have been using vim for a while and interested to know what others are using and their adoption :)

Is it recommended to use redux to share state across different components while you are using react-apollo client to sync remote data between client and server?

Ask HN: Where to start for your next big thing?

I land up at Google and search for something in my mind and always get disappointed with the results it throws at me unless something which is very specific like ‘undefined vs null in JavaScript’. Let’s say I would like to know how something is built and whenever I search for it I get random ads related to what I searched for and if that specific thing is not very popular then only god can save you.

Where do you guys start digging for anything?

Ask HN: Will it be useful for the user if GitHub repo has what/why/who section?

Everyday I come across a lot of github repositories through HN/Reddit/Personal blogs. I get a little confused about what is this repo about ( the problem it is actually trying to solve), why this solution when there are lot of other solutions exists and which already solves the same problem (why) and who can benefit from this (who). I understand that if you take a look at the repository and use it, you will be able to answer those questions but again you need to have that much time also.

Thank you. I am actually looking for an ML kind of a solution or work which can understand the context of any article and provide TL;DR suggestions. I understand that this will be very very hard to do but curious to know if there is anyone working in this domain.
