I used to use the Sawfish window manager ... before it fell out of maintenance, oh and before I switched to DEs with the window manager bolted on.
The thing I miss the most from Sawfish is that it let me resize any window. There are a lot of fixed-sized modal dialogs with scrollbars that wouldn't need them if they were taller, and there's a lot of room on my portrait monitor!

I am in your target audience! I can live from payday to payday on any salary. My only savings are mandatory pensions and my only asset is home equity.
It's not recklessness or stress avoidance. I would not have to work anymore if I had ever taken it seriously. Many people have sat me down and explained budgets and expense tracking to me. Now I download my transactions and categorize them every month, and I look at spending trends... but this information does not influence my behavior.

Here in the Netherlands, via my bank I can list all of my pre-approved transfers and block them. I'm pretty sure every bank here is required to support this. PayPal also has this feature.
I recently had to cut down on expenses starting with extraneous subscriptions and charitable donations, of which I had dozens. Many ad a click-to-cancel or at least fill-out-a-form-to-cancel process, but some of them said 'call us'. Then I discovered that I could cut them all off from my side!
I got a few 'hey your donation stopped' messages, and answered the first ones, but they all eventually went away.

There's a way to walhalla. Infrastructure, training, and liability laws prime the pump. When almost everyone is a cyclist, every driver knows that any cyclist could be a friend or family member. Or themselves.
Also... The Dutch reach. Open the driver's side door with the other hand to make sure you look for cyclists. In 12 years in Amsterdam I have never won the 'door prize'.
