I just wanted to hijack this thread to say thanks for your deep dives into die reversing. They've really turned what always seemed like arcane runes into some sort of actual understanding on my part.

Pretty much figured that would be impossible until this point.

We all figured this would be coming, but man does it feel weird to be rooting for B&N to stay afloat when they were basically the evil empire of book stores just a handful of years ago.

The indie bookstores will probably be around forever, but I'll be super sad the day that the big book store is dead. I'm still fucked up from Borders going under.

I've been writing to 65816 lately, so it may be that they're extended mode instructions. But does the 6502 not have PHX and PHY?

I love, love, love Ben's videos, and this is an awesome project.

But to be as painfully pedantic as possible: can we please use the word 'monitor', here? Calling it a 'microkernel' really gives one the wrong initial impression.

Still, very neat. Now write a BASIC!

I'm not sure what you're talking about, here. Used to live in Nagoya and have been to Toyotashi many a time. It's a pretty average small Japanese city.

Super late, but the term MCU refers to the actual chip -- analogous to SoC for the main chip on a raspi.

You don't call the raspi an SoC, and it's debatable that you'd call a prototyping platform like Arduino an MCU. The MCU is the main Atmel AVR, Microchip PIC, or similar part that drives such a board.

VMS feels like DOS if DOS were actually secretly UNIX

Also, don't forget about OS/8 for the PDP-8 series. Very DOS-y, and released by DEC all the way back in '71.
