<p>I think the closest real analogy to what your thinking is Amazon, where they sell things like the Kindle line of items, close to price.  In the hope that you buy more stuff from them.<p>Look at the fire tablets, you have a 7" for $50, there is no way there is any profit in that price.</p>

<p>I remember the HD7, I was eyeing it off for a while, I could buy one, I just couldn't find a phone store near me that would let me try one.  I moved to Android and the HTC Desire HD.<p>I had been a Windows Mobile 6.1 user.</p>

<p>I don't know if Monty has anymore kids to name databases after.<p>Monty is the one who first created MySQL, and later foked MySQL to create MariaDB.  There is also MaxDB, but it looks to be a SAP product.</p>

<p>The Essential Phone, did the same thing with the front facing camera,  placing it there, is a nice design choice, but apple wow, do you need that much space?<p>Also gone is the design compromise that was the home button.</p>

<p>The problem for his case is, he is fighting in New Zealand for how the case is made, but the real case is in the US.<p>The US Authorities haven't followed the New Zealand Law before, why would they follow it now?  They didn't break the law in using GCSB, why should their case be affected?<p>Just because they illegally took the evidence collected?  Than they would have closed the case before now.</p>

<p>I don't think so, Levandowski would be up on criminal charges or pleaded guilty to get a lesser sentence.
