Why is something connected to tech, and uncovering an important ethical bias and issue, being flagged? With no transparency about the reasons, nonetheless.

Also someone from Italy here: never, ever praise China as it is the same authoritarian state that caused all these deaths by silencing the truth when it mattered the most. Had they not violently censored doctors (like their own people or the current holocaust being carried on against Muslims), we would not be suffering through this devastation. This is also absolutely not an open letter "from Italy": it's a message from a minor—poorly written— publication.

I personally started by leaving Facebook in 2015, after I noticed feeling both anxious and empty at the same time when using it (the same happened with mobile notifications). I also heavily limit use of messaging apps and other platforms now. Then I started recording many conversations in podcast with no goal other than “let’s drop the bullshit mask for the public just talk like human beings”. I started actively making over passively consuming online media. But I feel like I still need a respectful and supporting online community, especially to share meaningful resources and links to grow as a person. I’m building a small
one community centered around sincere and honest discussion, so I‘m wondering what other people who dropped out of social media miss online, what their experiences are, and what they feel could replace it in a healthy way.

I worked for 10 years in TV and radio. I wrote, hosted, produced. I never once felt as free and proud as when I started creating my own show and mailing list, The Hoomanist.
I was able to break free from the pressure of making something profitable, and just played at the top of my skills to make something meaningful.
I record and edit long profile interviews with people I admire, take time to talk about what drives them in life, create the graphics, host my own Ghost website. I backup all the uncompressed interviews on two remote servers and on Millenniata discs.
On top of that, every week I select 6 thoughtful links to share with the mailing list. I make sure it’s all stuff that ignites critical thinking and doesn’t expire like the news of the day. I do my best to avoid any cynicism.
I talk to everyone and try to learn to listen better. A CEO, a director of photography from Pixar, a porn star.
This is the preface to the project and a list of guests is easy to find if you are interested.
https://hooman.ist/preface

Great job. In the title there's a random extra "N" in katakana at the end of Ni (日) hon (本). I guess it's from noir at the bottom but, as it is, it doesn't make any sense to any Japanese reader. You should split them by word, not just for graphical balance.

"My hope for podcasting is that it can remain loosely coupled, that you end up having a whole series of centralized systems, that there's a healthy tension between where different pieces of the value chain around content creation, distribution, sales, listener, and engagement taking place; not all in one place, but you can still have some very successful large-scale companies that are providing some of those services without it being a winner-take-all."
"Part of our design of RadioPublic was consciously to not try to integrate all of those things, and instead to leave hosting and ad sales and other systems outside of what we do and make sure that we could interoperate with multiple other parties and platforms who are doing that, so we don't just work with PRX's network, but we also make sure that we can tie into Libsyn and Simplecast, and other hosting companies. Or work with Panoply in their Megaphone system, or ART19 and its data system. If we can prove successfully that there's a new way of making sure that podcast listeners support the business models of podcasters on a consumer facing app where the listening happens, we might have the chance at then propelling forward some new standards that we would be thrilled if they got picked up by Apple and others. A simple example is: we have the concept of a gateway episode in a feed where we encourage a podcaster to flag an episode as the one that a new listener should start listening to first."
