I intended to share the product rather than the marketing page. I mean, I didn't intend to share this at all yet because it's not done, but when I saw people asking for examples..
But yeah, marketing site looks like a marketing site. I'm realizing now that a lot of my app's internal design/flair is missing from the marketing page -- so I appreciate your looking/commenting

Thank you, agreed, I will iterate on this more.
When I shared this I wasn't thinking about the marketing site -- I meant to show the product itself. Given the feedback here I no longer think it's a good representative as-is, especially with the generic SVGs / rounded cards

Is this a critique of the marketing page or of the product itself?
I didn't intend for this to be about the marketing page -- what you say is true of just about every marketing page. They're prevalent because they are good at distilling information without overwhelming the user. But I agree I can do better and will work on this more, I really appreciate getting this feedback
Most people look at pool chemistry/maintenance as painfully overwhelming, so for everyone to say this looks boring or mundane is a bit validating. No one has (yet!) said they don't understand the product, it's purpose, or it's value :)

I can't help but think you and the other commenters reducing this to slop didn't even try the product. I thought it went without saying that I wasn't posting to show a marketing landing page.

I think there’s a bug? It used to be memory efficient and now I periodically notice it explodes. Quit and restart fixes it
I don’t have any extensions installed and I’m basically leaving it open, idle, as a note scratch space. I do have projects open with many files but not many actual files are open
Anyway idk

> separate the audio system from your car
I was responding to a comment about the security implications of letting the infotainment system interact with the vehicle controls, and I referenced an incident where someone compromised a car via that.
I have no idea how CarPlay would compromise your phone given apples sandbox but whomever finds it is gonna have a multimillion dollar payday since iOS jailbreaks are quite valuable.

It was not well understood that it would stop being subsidized without notice.
Does that just not matter in modern society? I’m an asshole for expecting the product I pay for on day 1 to be the same on day 8 and 29 of a 30-days subscription?

My comment was about the rapid and sudden cost spike of something happening unexpectedly.
They announced 2x tokens with months of notice. This announced this with no notice.
Me as an individual making a go solo is not the same as thousands of funded businesses having free credits, subsidized plans and bottomless AI budgets.
For a short period this was a massive equalizer. Now it’s a tool for those who can afford it. That’s a big shift.
—
Why is it that a person cannot express their own circumstances or opinions on this site without it turning into an argument? It’s so deflating.

They could also do a plan 3 where they discourage others so they can use it to, say, rapidly build many new products but competitors would have to pay a fortune for the same luxury
Just spitballing.

The only catch is that you’ve spent many $1 and you don’t get any of those $10s unless you get over the finish line
In that sense your analogy is kinda good. I totally agree the current situation is like getting my solo start up funded and subsidized … but with only like 4 months runway now that the prices are skyrocketing, vs ~2+ for a typical YC venture

I agree with you there, but I think that may be the only reason this app isn’t cast in a darker light.
I can also imagine that with SF living expenses that there are a lot of people without a big safety net
I don’t really mean for this to be related to any one person. The general population doesn’t have a choice but to sign terms and get the severance , in general, in America

I avoided Claude code and such the first few months because I thought it was all billed by the API. Which I knew was not worth it to me at all.
Then I realized I was an idiot and this was magic.
But it now seems more like an introductory offer to use the API, as opposed to an alternative product / way to use their API product.
I thought it would get increasingly expensive, like say the $200 plan becomes $400.
Switching these plans to API metering doesn’t feel like it’s a separate product anymore?

Yeah totally. I’m just surprised they did this AND ended the 2x promo simultaneously.
I had my hopes up to switch to local but my first few passes didn’t pan out with that so far. But I’m optimistic it’ll land soon.
I think I need to lower my ambitions too. I got my hopes up since AI can do everything but how long it takes to do it right can really drag on
