People need jobs and a functioning economy to live.

This thread started with the GGGP talking about the decline of Germany's economy contrasted by the meteoric rise of China.

GGP states it's capitalism's fault.

GP says even if Germany disappeared from the face of the earth the current emission levels wouldn't even notice.

My parent asked why GP was downplaying or ignoring and asked for a solution.

I provided one.

Mine is re-shore all industry so that products are made according to environmental, health & safety standards. Deploy a mix of renewable and also nuclear power.

But that would turn off the spigot of cheap goods.....

Factory work isn't generally physically demanding, more tedious & repetitive than anything.

It's air conditioned, generally pays a lot more than minimum wage and has benefits.

In a serious note, looks good and don't let the paperwork keep you down!

I am not generally pro-union, I believe it has it's place but have also seen downsides but I have seen these games played out before.

Now we pay more for something that lasts a bit longer with more waste.

It's not "capitalism" if the government mandates a product.

What you are seeing is the typical enshitification that occurs when a product becomes mass produced and low cost to the customers becomes the primary driver.

Sure they try to vet the app but how does that absolve me from the liability?

You don't want to penalize someone selling their Xbox or lawnmower on Ebay but you want to stop what is going on here. A place like Etsy where people are selling their crafts is an interesting edge case but I think they should probably be a little regulated.
