I’d rather have that instead of govt monitoring of all communications. Your govt can hurt you more than any of those things. Especially in the EU given what happened just a few decades ago.

By this population-only logic, you should concede that India will overtake China.

Why not talk about how China shut out American companies for decades before complaining about BYD?

As an Indian immigrant, the PRC China has engaged in conflict with almost all its neighbors and stated wars in its short history.

US never championed free trade if by free trade you mean "anything goes."

Really strange that rest of the world can tariff and put up barriers, but once the US does that, all free-trade warriors step out of the wood work.

There is still resistance in India to teaching this in government schools.

Funnily ASML owes its current success partly to US funded research (straight from Wikipedia):

Except that there were no global standards at the time. You can't point to any single country and say they were doing worse. They all were bad.

But China actively flouted established international norms. Now that is behind in AI it is clamoring for controls for others.
