These are not topics easily separated. The rich are anxious to find returns; the rest of us are anxious about furthering a wealth gap and societal dysfunction further. "AI" might as well be synonymous with both concerns.

I'm saying that even public domain books are pricier yet lower quality for the price than ever. As others have pointed out, the mass market paperback has vanished from non-used bookstores.

I suspect I misunderstood you and by "new releases" you are referring to non-used books. Yes, the entire point is that they are too expensive to justify purchasing.

Books are seemingly more expensive than ever but paradoxically declining in material and substantial quality (i.e., are poorly edited and printed). Buying used books is just good financial sense.

So—the last three decades of tech pr? C'mon this is nothing new or specific to AI. This is as sloppy as any other tech product's marketing.

Look I'm not saying people shouldn't demand more, but it has exactly zero bearing on product quality.

There's nothing wrong with dependence! It's the harm that makes it addiction, and coffee in moderation has no harm. (I suppose some people get headaches if they don't drink it, but that certainly doesn't affect me.) Fear of benefitting from psychoactive substances per se on a daily basis sans harm is irrational.
