Billionaires aren’t becoming billionaires from income. It’s increased stock valuations that create that level of wealth.
I constantly see posts focused on high earners already paying tons of tax. They do, but this should reinforce the point that the ultra wealthy should be paying more tax. People aren’t saying the guy on £500k should pay more, they’re saying the guy with £100m in assets should be.

Zero our contracts is used far beyond the "Uber"-style gig work where people can choose when they want to work. Often its used in for any sort of minimum wage job where there is a significant imbalance where employers have the power to offer as little/much work as they want and penalise workers who can't/won't take those shifts.

Bear in mind that the UK has a “national speed limit” of 60mph for much of the countryside. This is very much a limit, a maximum, and you’re expected to drive to the conditions of the road. If it’s perfect weather conditions and twisting roads not wide enough for 2 cars, you shouldn’t be driving at the speed limit.

I’m pretty sure UK security services can link bank accounts to you already. Hell, credit score companies like Experian already do it.
This is beneficial for public services and companies that need to identify you. Having a single ID for a person is a huge improvement. As an example, when we got married, my wife was simultaneously both her maiden name and my surname. There is absolutely no link between passport, birth certificate, driving license, etc.
You have to go around to all these different organisations and have them update the details. They all have different requirements for updating the name.
Having a single consistent mechanism for referring to a person in systems seems hugely beneficial for both the organisation and the person.

I've never considered ownership in an IaC repo down to the individual resource and I'm struggling to see the usecase.
We also use tags/labels to link the generated "thing" back to the repository that created it with:
- The repo URL
- The pipeline URL
- The commit hash (also retrievable from the pipeline details)
These are all discovered via GitLab CI variables [1].
From this we would use the Git repository to identify ownership.
We have the benefit of our Infosec team having wide access to our GitLab instance, which might hamper other companies.
How would you handle a situation where someone creates a resource but then leaves?
The good thing about looking at an entire repository is that it gives you the entire history and who else might have worked on it. In hierarchical Git providers (eg. GitLab), it can also indicate where the project sits relative to others. If you just have a single person, you may struggle to find out who now owns a resource.
[1] https://docs.gitlab.com/ci/variables/predefined_variables/

Having spent time at a reasonable sized corporate environment with our own CA, I have to agree.
Its often a case of its fine until it isn't and different organisations handle it differently. Python requests installed via pip will use its own truststore, but installed via rpm it will automatically use the system store. Amazon Corretto JDK also installs its own truststore, so you have to correct that. Running thirdparty applications often comes with trouble, too.
More recently, we've been bitten by a JDK bug[0] that prevents Java from correctly interpeting Name Constraints.
[0] https://bugs.openjdk.org/browse/JDK-8311546

The problem I see in the UK is a lack of hubs. I wrote to the Department for Levelling Up when it was a thing.
Finance has done well in the UK due to London and having a significant number of firms in a single place. I can get a new job for a different company, doing a similar thing, in the same building.
How does that work for any other industry in the UK?
Its no wonder that wages haven't risen when moving job also requires you to move house/schools/away from friends and family.
We need the government to get involved and create regional hubs for different industries and really facilitate giving them everything they need. Address transport, power concerns, housing, labour and education requirements. The government is in a far better place to be able to influence across all these requirements.
