Shameless plug, I've actually spent the last 2 years working on a HN alternative for crypto people because I got similarly frustrated with the HN community. I always cringe when I hear the word "Nazism." Because the first time I heard it, it was when Putin said it in a speech after invading Ukraine. And indeed, if you check Google Trends, you'll see that the term had its peak around that time and has had an increased usage ever since. Nazism is not a word known in German either. We purposefully call it national socialism. And to be honest, I think it makes sense to be national socialism. Because it is nationally socialist. Meaning it is social towards the nation. Which is also a reason why there is the "Internationale." Because to me socialism that is constraint to a nation is inevitably nationalist, I mean how else could it not be?

Ask HN: Looking for tech city without hayfever risk in May/June

Hi,

I'm allergic to grass pollen, and it has its season in May and June in Europe. So this year I want to try to escape Europe and to not get exposed to pollen. For this reason, I've been looking for places that:

- Have a nice tech scene

- No pollen in the air in May and June

- Affordable

- Safe

- the closer to Europe, the better

The best I could find for now was:

- Iceland (bit cold lol)

- Capetown (do they have a big enough tech scene)?

- Canary Islands (I don't want to be a beach tourist)

What other options are there? Also: Have you already done this, and what was your experience? Does this plan generally work?

This framing is a concession to people who are terrorists. Many people who are optimistically working towards a better future (and here I mean broadly almost anyone) are not arguing for "infinite growth in closed systems." Everyone is and has been trying to optimize things as well as it is in their capability to improve the situation.

Yes, you are right. I'm blending the issues here. But see, I'm a EU citizen living in Berlin and naturally I've come to Milan for work and vacation, expecting to use ChatGPT. And frankly, I find it unacceptable that the Italian Garante took the initiative here and outright banned it.

POLITICO reports:

Diversity is where it's at! Heatwaves can also drain the rivers that cool nuclear plants! We need a more resilient grid and diversity of production is probably the answer here, isn't it?
