<p>Before we even cover salary, I have to ask if you have experience developing games in your own time?<p>Its all well and good to play games but it is a massive undertaking to build your own. I have been working as web developer for 5 years now and I decided to make a game in my spare time just over a year ago now. As the games development ramped up and took up more of my time, I realised that developing games will only ever be a hobby for me.<p>Its a really tough industry to be in, salaries aren't typically that high, hits are difficult to come by and the time investment is massive.</p>

<p>Honestly, I feel like its less about the side project that you work on and more about completing something. Being able to see something from conception, through development and testing to delivery and constant iteration has been the single most valuable thing for me in my career.</p>
