hehe, I used in my college classes, at Technical University of Moldova, my teacher was a bit on the fence about it (he was demanding Matlab, but the uni wasn't providing any licenses), but he reluctantly agreed to it. Worked pretty fine, I could use my linux laptop, and didn't need to crack matlab.

Yeah, i remember being prescribed ampicillin and aspirin for every cold, as a child. They didn't care, they only wanted to "do something".
I remember in highschool having a colleague who's overprotective mother was also a germophobe, and was treating her only son with ever increasing doses of antibiotics every winter. By the time we met, pills had no effect(according to them, the hell knows what they meant by "effectiveness"), and he was getting intramuscular ones. The poor people probably never learned that there almost no antivirals, and are doing more harm that good. Antibiotics are thought to be a panacea around here, in eastern Europe.

In my case, medicine and diet had little effect. And I was in pretty bad shape, i got to the emergency room several times a week with awful abdominal pain, vomiting, constipation. A different doctor adviced me to eat anything I want, but for at least half a year to eat kefir with every meal. That worked. Whenever I feel like my digestive tract is getting funny, i add a few bottles of kefir for a few days.

I also lost access to a previous gmail account - I changed my password with a random generated one, and god (and a google engineer) knows why, I lost access. No amount of appealing would return my access, even if I was wiling to show my national ID card and stuff.
Anyway. About your plan with the email server. We ran such a thing for an organisation in Romania. You'll be surprised how many times our emails ended up in Gmail's spam folders (other providers too, but gmail runs an especially harsh algorithm for spam filtering), even though we had DKIM, SPF and all that jazz setup. You will most likely be locked out of most people's reach, unless you use one of the largest providers. So maybe government regulation is the only realistic way out.

And chemo? Is it a reasonable expectation that this treatment, whatever it is, will be any different?

There is only one reason for me to use it: as a historical reenactor, I strive to make my equipment as accurately as possible, and I read various articles regarding roman military food, how widespread were certain metal alloys, how they used to do soldered joints, and so on. I wouldn't make an account to JSTOR just for a hobby - I use their search to find DOI's, and get them via Sci-Hub. I do buy books and stuff as part of my documentation, but there are really specific articles, usually a few pages long, that I can't find in both a convenient and legal way.

Coffee and tea helps me in such cases. Plain, no sugar, no milk. Brushing your teeth can also reduce hunger. Also, try to take it gradually - I don't eat at all on Wednesdays, making a ease-in and an ease-out -the diner the night before and the next day's breakfast in an apple, a carrot or a glass of kefir. Fasting more days in a row take an incredible amount of willpower (one of the reasons why I do it), and also takes a toll on your concentration, physical power.
I used to do it on Saturdays, because then I could reduce my physical activity to an appropriate level - but lately I've been going to festivals, or going out with friends, and it was not doable. Try to find a way where it works well with your schedule. Also, it may be a good idea to be discreet about it, because coworkers, friends and family will pester you.

I have some personal anecdotes that support this to some degree - I have dermatitis, and acne on my forearms - the longer I fast, the less acne I have, and my dermatitis recedes. The effects are very visible, and quite quick, 2 days of fasting will completely clean my scalp.
My father had psoriasis - after a week of fasting, his scabs would completely disappear, even in winter, when he had the worse flare-ups. Even eating healthy, even avoiding all sorts of foods that he knew he was sensitive to (lemons, garlic, spices, etc) didn't have nearly the same effect.

There's a lot more to Transnistria. Russia wants it as a strategic point of access to Europe. There are roads purposely build for quick access with tanks (big, heavy, concrete roads, reinforced with rebar - your car usually makes a clunking sound as if you're on a train). So they support the region with preferential natural gas prices (sometimes the bill gets completely tagged to Republic of Moldova). At the time when URSS collapsed, and the split happened - most of the heavy industry was on the Transnistrean side (including weapons factories), so it was big loss for Republic of Moldova. The Army 14 of the URSS never left Transnistria, and Russia still refused to call them back. [ https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Implicarea_Armatei_a_14-a_%C3%... ]
It's a semi-lawless land, used sometimes as a hiding spot for criminals, assassins, etc. Gun trafficking is at home there. When on bike, I managed once to pass the border without being checked (and I didn't notice I didn't have my papers with me, I almost got stuck in there) - you're basically at the whims of the border patrols.
There are a few villages that belong administratively to Republic of Moldova (I visited Coșnița [coshnitza] with a friend, that is one such village) - this state of affair came with great cost of lives, and people there still remember the price they paid. Tensions sometimes get high - in 2012 a drunk guy was shot and killed by the border patrol, as he was traversing the bridge - people were literally picking up forks and scythes to avenge him [ http://www.ziare.com/europa/moldova/moldovean-impuscat-de-ru...]

Unless is a separate topic, I think there's a confusion here. When Moldavia is mentioned, they mean the historical region Moldavia, part of the Romania. We normally refer to that Moldova (that the parent is talking about) either as "Republic of Moldova", or Basarabia. Historically, there was one big Moldova, currently only about half of it is united with Romania.

I'm afraid the incentives are not there - and we won't do any of those things - but at some point the system will bounce back, and hopefully it will self-regulate, rather than spiraling out of control. You can already see it happening, the hurricanes are getting worse and more frequent in USA, Italy and parts of Europe are hit by floods; An occasional reactor melts down. I'd say just enjoy the next decade as much as possible, who knows, maybe it won't last even that long.
