Interesting. If you need to support occasional writes, you could have a large static search tree and a small writable tree that you check afterwards. The when you have enough changes, you could occasionally ship those changes into a new version of the static tree

I think there's a missing book - 'Thinking In Rust'. The mechanics of borrow-checking, lifetimes, std lib, tokio can all be learned quite quickly. It's the muscle memory of techniques and design patterns that takes the longest to re-learn.
