Back then there was still GWK. You could buy rolls of nickels to add some weight to your savings, american dollars and other foreign monies.
I'd buy myself a shitload of rupees (for a couple of tenners) if they were still around. Such a missed chance.

Which is complete bullshit with the Euro having been specifically invented to be used across the EU.
I had a similar moment of stupidifiedment trying to park in Germany with a phone set to Dutch region. Euro in cash works everywhere Euros are accepted but apps on the freaking Internet? Nah, gotta restrict that to the publisher country only.

And the complexity of the governance structure is related to the amount of money involved.
The weirdest thing is when the money of a non-profit NGO exceeds roughly 10e6, the decisions made by upper management tend to make an inversionally proportionate amount of sense. Reason being, it's not their money to spend.
Took me a while to figure this out but now it's everywhere.

Just configure wear leveling in your storage layer. FDE may be the easiest way ti do it. Writes will be done linearly in circular fashion. That makes it difficult to delete stuff, but with encryption it's moot.

Xerox workstations were pretty much unheard of. A few might've seen a Mac. But most people haven't seen trash can functionality until MS-Windows 95 came out.
Personally, I just love the sound of it. Modules were awesome and games continued using them until ~2001.

When I took a computer course in the early 2000s, the teacher said like "look, this had a desktop called workbench and it even has a recycle bin in f$#ing 1985."
Things could've so much better if upper management wasn't disfunctional.

Yes, and it's only possible thanks but no thanks to MicroSlop.
And it's not like MS is too poor to do anything useful for their customers. They just don't want to unless the cost-benefit analysis pans out in their favor. The customer is worth as much as their wallet.
