Because the system is designed to allow these people in a gray zone, so they do not have access to the same rights as citizens and therefore can be exploited. The problem is not illegal immigration. It's just a political football. Our economy would fily collapse without this cheap labor to exploit.

I live in the czech republic and this is the way the older generation is here. Many older couples will have the same meal on the same day of the week every week. So not the same meal every day, but the same meal every Monday, a different one every Tuesday, etc. It's mind-numbing to me (I'm American) and these people tend to be outrageously inflexible in almost every aspect of their being.

This is why I think ai is basically the death of startups as we know them. Only big players can even take a swing. No more underdog garage startups, unless you're just downstream getting dorty bath water from the big boys.

Ai all around is purely about consolidation of power and money. It's bad for workers and ultimately probably bad for the startup world and competition more broadly.

Imo college sports is a huge driver of this, as schools are more often seen as sports franchises these days than actual educational institutions.

In states like Kentucky a d Oklahoma? Think again. These places are overwhelmingly trumpy. The nation as a whole barely voted him in, but in many red states his numbers are very high. My home county in Tx voted 80% Trump.

The culture that I live in here in the Czech Republic would paint your statement as pretty false. The police here are extremely laid-back and it's pretty easy to get away with petty thievery, yet crime is exceptionally low because people are not desperate enough to risk even the low chance of getting in trouble. You only take chances when you have nothing to lose and you only have nothing to lose when you have been completely excluded from society.

Here in czechia they still do oral exams where you sit in a chair in front of an instructor and they ask you questions which you have to answer by speaking. I don't think there's any better way to show actual content mastery than that

Obama kicked the failing can of neoliberalism down the road. He could have very easily bailed out the American people directly but chose not to do that and as such I feel like he alienated liberal Americans as much as he did conservative ones.
