Just FYI, if people remember having the day-by-day calendars back when, the dates have now repeated and they're selling them again.

Oh boy. I got my friend's old CRT when he was moving. Carried down 3 flights of narrow stairs, drove the hour back to my house, loaded it up the front steps, got my PS2 out of the attic, was so excited... and the PS2 doesn't work anymore.

I went a step further, or maybe backward, and I have a separate computer that I connect to with AnyDesk and it has all the Adobe crap installed on it.
Also, our company credit card got replaced, and the process of updating the card and re-activating Creative Cloud took two weeks. It got canceled August 29 and only yesterday, September 14, was I able to launch Illustrator without a nag window. I hate Adobe.

It is very cool that this is archived. I was the application skin admin over at deviantArt and Deskmod way back in the day (wild times, pre-Web 2.0 so everybody was just making it up as they go) but sadly none of these names ring a bell. I think Deskmod just piddled out and dA got bought and the original crew all left. I lived in the middle of nowhere so being exposed to that level of programming as well as passion for art was extremely inspiring. I even made a punk music spinoff called I Hate Music that introduced me to lifelong friends all over the world.

I manage IT for an office and one of our hires said they got covid, took a month to join, and then when she showed up her manager decided to move her desk. I think maybe I got the desktop and a monitor moved before I was told to stop because she just quit. I can think of maybe 3 people in my office that have stayed for over a year, none on bad terms, just hopping jobs.

I've been an Android user since my first smart phone, but when AT&T dropped support for my last phone I decided to just give it a shot and get the new iPhone SE. I have a 12 year old MacBook that I got after an old job retired it but I never really bought into the Mac environment, so I thought maybe this could sell me. So I get the package, I open it up, ooh ahh, pull out the phone, pull out the USB-C cable, uh oh, and then lift up the cardboard liner annnnd nothing. The phone was charged, my girlfriend had cables and I could get a power supply overnighted, but I really sat there for a minute just thinking "man, fuck this." Not a good start.

Holy cow. I was just thinking about all the crazy people in my neighborhood, drug dealers, etc. and how I probably wouldn't want my kid walking around alone. And then I realized that there is a middle school down the street and there are dozens of kids walking home from it, playing in the field, cussing up a storm. Kids come by and ask if we need yard work done. We just moved there last year and I genuinely teared up when the first trick or treater came to our door, every other place I've lived in the parents drove their kids to rich neighborhoods.

Hm, for me it meant I mostly stuck with the same student peer group throughout grade school, I think we got to skip some standardizes tests, and I was able to get a school bus to the bigger schools even though I was way out in the sticks. I had to go through an aptitude test and even though I was only like 7 I still remember sitting in the car after and being mad at myself for missing a question about "another word for water" being H20.

I switched. Bitwarden just seems easier to use. Everytime I install Keepass on a new computer I have to spend 15 minutes remembering where all the options are to configure it. Bitwarden feels more like a vault of information while Keepass seems like you gotta fight it to be anything other than URL-username-password.
To be honest though I'm still not 100% moved over, and may never be. I doubt I'll need to transfer the login to the public library from a town I lived in 10 years ago.

After 2 hours I went to the street and it's 5 miles of housing developments one way and 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 fast food restaurants the other. I got a $30 Lyft after 4 hours of sitting in the dark at my office. AAA called at 3AM asking if I still needed service...
Why would I want to go to the office???
