There's not a lot you can contribute unless you worked on the ticket. Notice how the only example you came up with was refactoring.

This was more important back in the day but now linters and formatters are mainstream.

The best time to code-review is at the beginning.

that crap is solved in a lot of places, jQuery is no longer the only library, and you don't need to support legacy browsers as much anymore, if at all

Companies are getting more security-conscious because of all the hacks and the pain of keeping old browser support is no longer outweighing the risks of upgrading is my theory.

My theory is that the subconscious works so well as a database so that's why every to-do list gets abandoned.

You're better off just trusting your gut and playing things by ear since information, and even your own motivations, change constantly.

I've liked personal wikis a lot more than GTD-like stuff.

There's acute mental pain, heroin numbs that too, but you're right.

That kinda thinking, the new "you're wasting your time on Facebook, go read a book" is just the old puritan "get to work loser". Literally, one of the oldest scripts in the docs to get you to work harder for the man. Damn him.

If you're brain is too tired to do anything but watch cartoons or play video games, or just fart around and not do anything, then that's your god-given right and you don't even have to be tired to do that.

Facebook gives us social connections and those are critical for humans. Far more important than reading a book or going for a walk.

Pop culture has always been an oligopoly. Even before the days of the Beatles or the Olympians or even the Octoads.

You can’t change this because pop culture and the star system are for the masses. Art is for early adopters. It’s that same concept of the technical chasm we have.
