Take the case of F-35, the only country which has source codes apart from the U.S. is the UK. A very special exemption. They are also the only Tier 2 partner.
Everybody else has basically a black box of code given to them in terms of code for the aircraft.

American newscasters and classic film stars sported an accent half in between the U.S.- UK accents, also called as Transatlantic accent.
Look back at old films even as late the end of 60s and you wil hear it.

You guys drink/ booze like it's going out of fashion. Must be all those cold long Wisconsin winters. Madison is an OK place in summer, but not a place I would like to live in. And this coming from a guy who grew up in Michigan. I prefer Ann Arbor for that reason.
Wisc-Madison has a great reputation for mech/industrial/ops types of degrees.

I totally agree with your point. But unfortunately/ fortunately, those other fields you mention do require a degree as a minimum. But again, they also tend to have larger consequences (usually), compared to a few bad lines of code (usually).

You will find that the Swiss comply with most EU laws, including GDPR in most instances. And so is/has/will the UK. You really can't sit next to one of the largest trading blocs in the world and ignore it, unless you don't intend to do deal with them/ conduct business with them in any shape or form. Good luck in your quest to find, freedom or whatever else you're trying to find.

Kia ora! The "issue" here is that most sites which want to cater to worldwide audiences pretty much try to comply with influential legislation to stay on the good side. And GDPR/EU regs wield a big enough stick and come from a large enough region that you can't ignore them unless you want to block your site out completely to traffic coming from the EU. So they try and just do a worldwide rollout, irrespective of where you live. Of course, you can always implement this selectively but maybe more tricky to small and medium businesses, so they play and safe. Probably. I am speculating here.

Wasn't this tried/mooted a few years ago but got nowhere in the end? But you also have to understand that for many/most of these types of professional bodies in other fields, you need to have a basic BS type degree to be accredited and this is where I think it fell down flat as quite a few SWEs (compared to other fields) were self-taught, dropped out etc. and didn't necessarily have a college degree. Maybe they can have a different set of criteria for SW field.

Same here. I sometimes have a glass of wine or beer while working with some music on and zone out and get some proper work done. Maybe it calms down my hyperactive brain a bit - I did have ADHD as a kid and used to take meds.
Of course, there is a fine line between having a couple to calm down and getting drunk, when you don't get stuff done.

So true. At my last job, one of my managers used to complain that he wasn't "seeing" more of his people in the office. Never mind the fact that the stuff actually got done on time and under budget. He had a wife and 3 kids at home and office was his "refuge," and came into the office every single day. So, he wanted people around him.
He was also a smooth-talking backstabbing insert choice curse word here. But that's a story for another day.

Same here, I enjoy seeing my colleagues as well.
But I prefer something like 2/3 days in the office and rest from home. This arrangement works better for me, covers all my needs/preferences.
