I know this isn’t a question, but more of a general observation about LMs. However, I’d still like to say that a fine-tuned Qwen3 0.6B model can produce more effective and faster results than a raw Gemma 3 12B model. Maybe it’s because I’m not a programmer, but I believe being able to give commands in natural language adds a great deal of flexibility to software.

normaly I just use blender -b path/file1 -a && blender -b path/file2 -a

I just tested with a folder full of jpegs and I didn't even have to compare to see the artifacts kind of "looseless"

you can do that with whisper https://github.com/openai/whisper even there is fast whisper runs like a charm on my old 2012 imac on cpu https://github.com/FamousDirector/FastWhisper

Local LLM's to run on old iMac / Hardware

I have an old iMac on which I run Syncthing and Node-RED. I use an M2 for my daily tasks. I SSH into the iMac whenever I need to, and if I require a GUI, I use screen sharing.

My iMac is quite old, dating back to 2012. While I can run most of the LLM models on my M2, I'm struggling to run even the smallest LLMs on my iMac. I've attempted Ollama and LLM.cpp without success. So, is there any local LLM suitable for running on older hardware? I enjoy experimenting with LLMs and writing small shell scripts to interact with them. I'm not looking a replacement for GPT-4; I'm looking for something fun to play with.

iMac's hardware:

- 2.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5

- 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

- NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M 512 MB

awesome, love the idea and maybe putting a default prompt like:

"this images comes from the persons POV that ask you questions"

instead of "a person holding something" "you are holding xyz" wold be better
