I'm the author. I have been dealing with this for over a year and reluctantly running LineageOS until two days ago everything related to google services went bonkers on my phone after the TSA had it.
So, inspired by frustration, I revisited the subject and saw it to conclusion.
Initially, GrapheneOS moved my post about this to the 3rd-party-apps forum and then later locked it. Hikvision/Annke/Guarding Vision devs never replied.
So I reverse-engineered their app, found they were checking for com.google.android.gsf (the old GSF package) instead of actually verifying FCM was working, and built an MIT-licensed patcher.
I also submitted a PR to GrapheneOS that adds a minimal synthetic GSF package presence when verified GmsCore is visible to the caller. And it's gated so it only engages when Play Services is actually installed and visible.
For now, the patcher does its job. If the PR gets merged, future GrapheneOS builds will fix this for every app that makes the same wrong GSF check, not just Hikvision stuff.
I also documented a dead-simple method for non-devs: enable USB debugging, plug your phone in, and tell an AI assistant to use the GitHub repo to patch your APK.

You're trying to cancel this guy's project on hackernews comments because he quoted winston churchhill in 2025 and didn't get a vaccine donut in 2019?
What do you get from it? Is he your enemy? Seems like you are trying to destroy him using this comment as attack vector. And this comment is well prepared and sourced and easily repeatable, so I presume you use multiple attack vectors like this.
Just an observation. And as an observer, this is annoying to see.

Most recently, I needed a smb 1.0 server to host an iso to an ipmi. I thought about it, rolled my eyes, bought a digital ocean server for $4/month and told Deepseek Flash Free via openrouter via opencode the root credentials and told it to ssh in there wget the iso and and make an smb 1.0 server and give the me credentials.
A couple of days before that, I told it to make a website, and then I kept telling it to do little changes and add crazy graphics. I just wanted to see what it could do. I made 30n3.com as a tech demo built on hugo hosted in cloudflare pages.
I was so impressed with this that I am fully transitioning many of my WordPress sites to this new gen workflow. I just redid my agency site (cyberbrand.net)to using similar method and the whole thing feels like I felt with geocities and tripod as a teenager. Its fun and I'm exploring and there don't seem to be any boundaries.
Before that I just used it for silly stuff like suing people and sending cease and desists.

What route dude I made an article to bring attention to the issue and the attention has been brought. Why do you want me to do things your way? I do things my way just fine. There's always someone to tell you that you should do this or that. Why should I do this or that? You do this and that if that's whats important to you. And if you want me to do this and that then convince me why I should.
