Why do HN comments which are of little or no relevance to topic always rise to the top of the comments list?
Are there some kind of commenting rings or voting rings involved in the phenomenon?
I mean what has FDIC deposit insurance got to do with some bankrupt or dissolved company depriving customers of their data?
It makes HN virtually useless as a means of assessing the opinions around the actual topic.
Perhaps HN should use some kind of AI analysis to mark which comment threads which are on topic and enable to be sorted accordingly.

Oh dear it is the Russians again. They are to blame for everything.
Are they to blame for the US Army's acquiescence to Repkon's refusal to allow them to see production lines in operation, or are Repkon manufacturing artillery shells for Russia too?

War is a racket. Under the Trump administration it is an even bigger racket.
"Repkon said other countries were using the machines to produce the older model. But the Army and General Dynamics could not inspect those active production lines, Repkon told them, citing customer privacy."
Can you believe this? Both the US Army and General Dynamics paying 100s of millions to a subcontractor whose production lines they are not allowed to inspect "citing customer privacy"?
Even your supermarket chain is able to inspect their subcontractors production lines producing their in house brands and the US Army can't?
I guess the "kon" in Repkon says it all, ie their "Rep"utation is a "Kon".
America's military is doomed.
Heard the news about sailors on the Abraham Lincoln rioting with 7 dead because of the shithole conditions on the carrier?

> A feature that was possibly accidentally enabled on consumer chips is now being disabled.
Bro what are you smoking? The highly paid and experienced engineers designing these chips could have "possibly enabled" the feature on consumer chips.
The chips were designed with the feature as it is cheaper to do everything right from the get go and disable functionality rather than design a less capable chip then tack on the feature afterwards, just as the consumer versions of Windows are the server versions with functionality removed.

Why has HN become utterly useless as a place where meaningful discussions can be held?
A response concerning the model being prompted for information that could be used to aid cyberattaks ie - "Are there going to be bans on things that could be used to aid in school shootings next?" floats right to the top of the comment listings and the responses are quite irrelevant.
What is it with this place?
In the past I came to see what the comments about the articles were is hoping they would share more light on the topic. Right now they are totally meaningless.
