I visited a couple years ago - it was lovely to finally touch an authentic Spectrum, 3 decades after spending my early life hacking around on various clones. Was well worth the 30 minute ride from Coimbra.

Ahh, the Spectrum screen pixel math, oh the memories.

Once upon a time a much younger myself obtained a dot-matrix printer that I managed to wire up to my computer. Sadly, it was meant to only print text, and having a fancy typewriter definitely wasn't very much fun to me. Somehow, I figured out that the printer actually supported defining custom fonts! After some reverse-engineering of the format I ended up with a program to slice the screen into rectangles matching printer's letter sizes (which were not 8x8 pixels, to make it extra fun) and sending them as custom font definition for each symbol of the alphabet, then printing "ABCD..."

Getting a paper printout of loading screens or in-game screenshot art was mind-blowing.

I wondered why this article doesn't have a very obvious thing for the topic it's trying to cover - a photo of mentioned stickers.

Perhaps because it's a rewrite of another article originally for European audience - for example https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/sep/14/carrefour-p...

CNN removed the French photo and also introduced a mistake - when they converted "1.5 litres" for US audience they wrote "0.3 gallons" instead of "0.4"

What needs to be enabled is what is typically called "origin shield" - this will make your CDN's edge servers use their own internal cache instead of refreshing everything from the source.

Author may also want to review cache headers returned for their content as it should be possible to cache at CDN effectively indefinitely.

I am very surprised it's not a more popular dish in the US - it seems like it would fit well the Denny's, IHOPs or even some fast-breakfast drive-throughs, and work as breakfast or appetizer or dinner.

It's on every menu in Barcelona - yes, served cold.

A Spaniard taught me that mixing in some potato chips gives it some variety. He said he even sometimes makes it completely out of packaged chips.

+1 on rclone - one of my favorite tools in the toolbox.

With sufficient --transfers and --checkers values you can easily saturate 10-20 gigabit/second links, so with a handful of machines you can transfer 25TB in about an hour, no engineers required.

Worth noting that rclone also supports many other storage providers or even plain SSH, so it pretty much obsoletes rsync. It also has many other nifty features useful outside of the "sync files" use case.
